My daughter has outgrown another set of clothes, and needs a new western-type belt suitable for 4-H and other occasions. I’m surprised not to be finding anything that we like. Suggestions?
The first thought that popped in to my head would be to go custom, but that might not be s good option if DD is likely to grow more. Have you looked online at places like Sheplers, Jax, or Murdoch’s? Also, if you don’t want super blingy/ giant conchos, look at boys/mens belts. IMO, they tend to be a little classier and better made.
Thanks! Found something we could both live with at Sheplers.
Here, belts hand tooled by local saddle makers, are going for $150.
You still have to add your own, engraved silver buckles to it.
Glad you found one already.
Bluey and others:
Keep the thread going with those recommendations for really nice belts, please.
The best ones I have are made by a guy in North Dakota and sold at a little tack store in Santa Fe, NM. Found another maker at Hamley’s in Pendelton, OR… but the guy went back to construction work.
It’s dang hard to find these expert leather guys. They aren’t way into having a web presence, are they?
This is one of the best around and will make any you want:

There are also several that do silver engraving, making bits and spurs and also belt buckles, that he can order what you want off them, or you do.
Here is one:

These make much of what the local cattlemen, cowboys and horse trainers use.
