Which bridle/brand is most like an Edgewood?

I have a lovely, aging, Edgewood bridle that fits my hard to fit mare’s big head beautifully. I am on the hunt for a new Edgewood but as we all know, they are scarce as hen’s teeth! I’ve tried other brands (Red Barn, Black Oak) and none fit her properly (noseband too small, browband too tight, awkward looking) and frankly, none seem to match the quality of the leather of an Edgewood. I also do not want to play the ‘buy/try/return/sell’ game to find one that works.

So, calling on all you hunter experts out there: what bridle is the closest match to a 3/4" padded horse size Edgewood? (or, if you know of a secret stash of new ones, let me know!!)

Did you try Farmhouse Tack? They ordered me a slightly wider noseband for a 20+ year old Edgewood about a year ago. Matches perfectly.

Edgewood itself is telling all customers/shops that they are 20+ weeks out on orders of bridles/reins/martingales. Super backed up! So ordering is not what I’d like to do, if possible.

Saddlers Row in IL carries Edgewood

I don’t know if they ship, but if you call and they have it, I can make time to go pick up and ship to you, OP.

They are out of stock, as are most places. But thanks for the offers!

Quail Hollow Tack in Texas just posted that they got a fresh shipment of Edgewood! While it’s not padded, I just got a Huntley wide-noseband bridle that fits very similarly to Edgewoods I’ve had in the past.

Thank you!! I’ll be calling them this afternoon.

Check out the Edgewood tack for sale FB page. There are many nice bridles, and ISOs often get several options.

If none of the other links here work out, try calling Tack Warehouse. They ship and last time I was in there they had some Edgewood bridles. I would call instead of browsing the website, I don’t know how up-to-date it is. https://www.tackwarehouse.com/

They will ship.

They appear to be sold out…as is Gallops.

Equusport Bridles. Expensive but will last a lifetime and the quality is outstanding. Brad is great to work with!

New Cavalry is (or was; I think they are under new ownership now and I’m not sure if the products have changed) very similar in quality to Edgewood, and in fact, the guy who started Edgewood used to work for New Cavalry with the original owner.

Bennett’s Hunter Fine Bridles/Jimmy’s and EquuSport are similar, but even better IMO, though much more expensive IIRC. Hadfield’s is in a similar price point to those and also very nice, though they have a different look and feel than Edgewood.

Nice Edgewoods pop up on eBay, TackTack, and other consignment sites sometimes as well, it might be worth a look!

HK Aramas and Americana are not quite the same, but very nice quality and much nicer than Red Barn/Black Oak IMO, and at a great price (and they come with reins).

What size do you need?

I don’t have any idea if they are easier or harder to find, but if I wanted solid quality and the look of an Edgewood, I would look for Aramas.

I ended up finding a new Edgewood at Quail Hollow. They were wonderful to work with, helpful and prompt. It should arrive next week. Thank you for all the suggestions for alternative brands. I’ll keep those in mind for the future. Here’s hoping Edgewood continues to build its inventory.

Looks like SmartPak has some left in stock

Those are the 1” nose band ones. Too big for my girl.
