Which dressage stallions are considered to be the most prepotent stallions in the US? I am talking about stallions still alive and still breeding. Thanks for yoru answer.
I am not talking about big names stallions. I am just talking about real prepotent stallions…!
Prepotent for what?
Agree with the above. Prepotent for which specific traits?
Give us more info on what you are looking for - such as size, type, jumping ability, hunter movement, dressage movement, temperament, rideability, various conformation traits - ???

I meant stallions that consistently stamp their progeny to their image. I am looking for dressage movement and calm temperament mainly. Thanks.
This is a hard question to answer. Many stallions stamp and their offspring have common features. But a stallion can seldom go way beyond the mare in terms of producing “dressage ability” overall in the foal. Some can improve some qualities more than others, the trot for example or the walk or a better shoulder. But you need to pick out the traits as it is seldom that the stallion will improve everything. The Dutch have really good stats that show how the stallion will throw using the former crops. NA breeders are not so lucky and have to depend on the honesty of the stallion owners and use older stallion with a ton of get out there. Even then, without the stats, it is mostly personal experience, which is limited considering how few offspring most stallion have and the size of NA.
Sir Gregory.
Very consistently produces excellent dressage movement and great character, as well as size, from a variety of mares.
All stallions, or current stallions? Prepotent for ?
If you are looking at all stallions in recent history, I would have to say Weltmeyer. Hands down. Prepotent for look, movement, temperament…
Weltmeyer was prepotent for temperament…but not a calm, ammie temperament! He was known for producing hard-working, high energy horses that did not suffer fools lightly.
But he did consistently produce a certain physical type…most of his sons looked exactly like him.
Sir Gregory is a lovely young stallion and I like him alot…but he hasn’t had enough babies to say how prepotent he is.
Again, I’m sure the OP is frustrated at the responses, but her question is just too vague to give a good answer to.
Dressage movement: what level? Most (although not all) of the “R” line stallions will give you a willing temperament. Rubinso Bellisimo gave me a mare with the sweetest mind ever and great gaits as well…both characteristics that she passes on.
I’ve bred to Sempatico twice and both those babies were very sweet and willing. Certainly capable of doing lower/mid level dressage (depending on the quality of the mare).
Manhattan is known to consistently throw super-sweet dispositions.
Schroeder is VERY prepotent as to physical type and has a super nice disposition. Throws awesome gaits as well.
I’m sure there are others, but again, the mare is so very important so the OP neecs to be more specific.
OK. Yes I agree, my question is not specific enough.
Here is the deal: I would like to breed my arabian mare to a warmblood stallion to enhance shoulder movement and size. I am, as you can imagine, not aiming at a grand prix horse, but I would like to produce a decent arabian sporthorse. I am looking at stallions that are breeding now with fresh or cooled semen.
I looked at Schroeder with interest but I have not been able to find any video of any of his offspring in arabian/warmblood cross.
Rosenthal is ofthen used with very nice results on arabian mares. I don’t know if he fits your bill but it worth having a closer look on him, based on what you want to produce. http://www.hphanoverians.com/foal-of-rosenthal.html
Totally agree - I didn’t say “sweet temperament” I’ve known several - and only one is a really ammie friendly horse. Although they do tend to mellow w/ age, and many of his 2nd generation out are “easier”.
But based on OPs original question - that is possibly the most prepotent stallions I could think of
For temperament - a lot of the Arab Sport Horse breeders tend toward the “R” lines. Tend toward a more ammie friendly personality.
A line hanoverians - I can just about always pick out a horse with Absatz in it’s pedigree even if it is 3 or 4 generations back. They all tend to look something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QDvPWVeTlo
There was one A line hanoverian a few years back in the US that seemed to be used to cross on arabians I wish I could remember his name right now…
