About $50 price difference between them - one appears to be stiffer material. Anyone tried both and have a preference?
Also, do they run huge like some Rambos? My guy wears a 78" in some, and an 83" in others.

I’ve had the Rambo one and the Kensington protective sheet. Absolutely definately would go with the Kensington protective sheet.
Kensington protective sheets don’t have belly coverage or neck coverage, which my guy needs
You can get belly covers for the protective sheet and neck covers. I would contact Kensington direct. Honestly I really would choose them. The Rambo really didn’t last but the protective sheet really has.
Derp - I see that now. $65/neck cover and $20/belly band if direct from Kensington. Wish Dover had the necks… really prefer something integrated. Hm.
The attachments are interesting on the neck, elasticated Velcro, the neck stays put but as the horse grazes the elastic stretches. Tricky
The Fly Buster has the fly spray built in. The Protector does not.
I didn’t find the Fly Buster to be fifty bucks better than the Protector.
I also reeaallly dislike the Kensingtons and find them to rub and shift a lot.
I have four horses in the Rambo Protector all summer. Love them They fit like other Rambos–my horses that measure 78" wear the 75" sheet.
Simkie, which style did you try out of interest. I haven’t tried their traditional cut but haven’t found the euro cut (don’t do it any more) or the surefit (new cut) shifts at all. Can occasionally run but so can the Rambos, main thing I found is to keep checking the fit setting as they mound to the horse over time.
Protector, and it runs huge!

Traditional? I haven’t bought one in probably 10 years. They were awesome when fly sheets were all light mesh. Now that there are other durable options, I think those other options are far superior (But, granted, I haven’t used any of the new fancier ones!)
I still have several because you just can’t destroy them and use them occasionally for a new horse or whatever when I don’t have a Rambo available. They still slide to the side on EVERYTHING and just rub the snot out of the shoulders!
Makes sense, there newer cuts are so much better interesting I tried the Rambo before the protective sheet and although the green Rambos were decent the newer gold ones just didn’t work for me. Horses for courses huh
I agree with Simkie!! I have a horse with had huge problems last year and I bought the Rambo Protector for her. Sie basically lives in it, I only remove it for riding and she is totally happy with it. No rubbing and her skin looks so great until now!! And we have horrible flies already. I will never buy anything else again
I think WB has better belly coverage than Rambo, but the WB necks run huge.
We have the fly buster, which works great…my guy is your typical OTTB who is driven INSANE by flies, and he’s turned out with friends who get up to mischief during the day. it is HUGE though, he wears an 81" in regular blankets, so i ordered him the 78" Rambo – i could have ordered him the 75" and he would have been fine.
That being said though, it doesn’t even have a snag after last season.

Exactly!! I absolutely love the protector but it does run so much larger than normal Horsewares products. My mare is a 75 in Rambo blankets but takes a 72" in the fly sheet. I do absolutely love it though. My mare has wicked allergies and gets contact dermatitis every spring and summer. She lives in her Rambo Protector the minute the snow melts until a hard frost the next fall. No issues at all, it’s a really great sheet!
Protector it is! Ordered.

Completely agree, plus I do not like how heavy the Kensington is. I have tried the regular Kensingtons and the Euro cut and since trying the Rambos will never get another Kensington.
Both my geldings wear an 81 Rambo blanket and an 81 Rambo fly sheet. The fly sheets fit a little looser and cover more but they don’t shift around, and I like the expanded coverage.
They really fill out their Rambo blankets well – not tight but not baggy – so I am wondering if the people who size down in the fly sheets are using a bit larger blanket than they really need. I just hate baggy, saggy blankets.
