which rump rug?

Which rump rug is your favorite? Why do you like it? Any features to avoid in a rump rug? Thanks!

I really prefer this style. A rump rug that is just polar fleece isn’t wind proof and it’s so light that it can shift around too easily. So I prefer a rug that’s lined with fleece but has an upper fabric layer that is waterproof and adds weight. The CYA rugs are too cool because they have draw strings sewn into them that let you adjust the rug while in the saddle AND they have weights sewn into the lower corners that really help keep the rug on the horse instead of flying about.

I’ve bought the cheaper rugs and found they were wasted money.

I like the Easy Bun Warmer myself www.easycareinc.com but I also use homemade ones made from wool army blankets that have weights sewn into the corners.

I have a Baker brand that is OLD (bought it on Ebay) and I love it because it is wool but is very thin from so many years of using and washing I guess. So I can use it when the temperature is in the 40s/50s and not worry about it being too hot and heavy.

The Bun Warmer only covers the very top of the rump so isn’t great for really cold temperatures. The ones I made from army blankets are very heavy and cover the entire stifle and flank area so I use those when temps are below zero to around 20 or so.
