We need a vet that is qualified to read a stifle CT, doesn’t matter where they are located. We want to get a few more opinions before making our decision. Looking for someone that is very highly trusted and honest, just want a straightforward answer. Anyone?
What about a radiologist? Dr. Natasha Werpy.
Since most places don’t have a CT large enough to get an equine stifle IN, you’re a little limited as to who can read them.
I think Colorado State is doing trials right now:

I guess I should have said radiologist in my OP… Just slipped my mind! Thanks!
I just meant- the only people that will be proficient at reading stifle CTs in horses, are those that work someplace where they can DO stifle CTs in horses. There aren’t many - may have to send the images overseas since most of the people looking at that are over in the Netherlands/Belgium.
Haggyard Magee or Rood and Riddle in Lexington Ky. Tufts in the Boston area and UC Davis in Sacramento come to mind. I’m sure there are others. Call them, they will have staff radiologists or other specialists who can consult on interpreting your CT.
And these places look at enough CTs and other images to know exactly what they are looking at and offer meaningful recommendations.
Think more local vets and smaller clinics have to be so broad based they cannot specialize and sometimes are not as adept at reading these tests. Send it to a big one with appropriate specialists.
Call them up, don’t believe they need a recommendation, just the scan and a CC#.

Oh yeah! I get what you’re saying
Cornell or New England Equine might also be able to offer a second opinion. I believe NE equine has a big enough CT (they did a spinal contrast CT on our horse a few weeks ago).
Good luck!
