I have two TBs. One has shark fin withers from hell the other one has more normal TB withers… I am interested in getting a western saddle that I could use mostly for trail riding. Light weight would be idea. I don’t want a hybrid or trail type saddle- I want one with a horn. Any input greatly appreciated. In an english saddle I am a 17.5 seat size with a long femur. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Can you post pictures of your horses? It’s impossible to make any suggestions without at least seeing your horse.
I’ve got a wintec with semi-qh bars on order for my TB. He has normal withers and a short back. We primarily do english, but I wanted a western saddle for trail riding and just playing around with so I’m trying the wintec because we don’t need anything fancy and the light weight. I hope it works, can report back but it may be a few weeks.
I think I recall that somebody here said they had good luck with a western saddle made for gaited horses on her Thoroughbred. I guess the gaited horse saddles tend to be made for a more narrow build?
