Jim Crowley was given 20 days and fined 10,000 pounds for overuse of the whip in winning the King George.
“Crowley was found to have used his whip nine times inside the final two furlongs, three over the permitted number for flat riders. Had Crowley used his whip four times over the limit then Hukum would have been disqualified.”
It has caused a lot of aggravation this season and the jockeys are really unhappy with the rule, as it stands. However, the Powers That Be are very aware of the issues of social licence and racing surviving into the future.
