Saffie Joseph also had the show horse in the classic. In addition, he had a filly win as well.
It’s a nice, good feeling story. He really seems t love his horses, and most particularly, WA.
Aren’t you just a tiny bit suspicious of the trainer? Wasn’t he one of the trainers that were busted for illegal medications and suspended for years? (I don’t remember names very well, so please excuse this). Another top horse was under another of the trainers, went to another and didn’t show his previous form. White Abarrio did well under Joseph, went to another trainer, with drop in form, then back to Joseph with sudden improvement of form. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but it doesn’t seem 100% innocent (or because the horse only loves this particular trainer ALA the Black Stallion).
He had a couple of fatal breakdowns, and they suspended him pending investigation. He was cleared. I’m not going to cast any aspersions against him. He had a hell of a day yesterday, and that’s great stuff

And White Abarrio won 2 G1’s under Dutrow, including the Breeder’s Cup Classic. Hardly a drop in form. The ownership has always backed Joseph. They had switched to Dutrow when Joseph was suspended, because, well, White Abarrio needed a trainer. When Joseph was cleared they just didn’t see a reason to move the horse from Dutrow while his form was good.
Impressive race.
I admit it flashed in my mind too. But nowadays, with all the reporting of abuse and drug use in racing and showing, I seem to have drugs on my mind.
On a good note it was great to see WA running. He is quite impressive and this win looks well deserved. The trainer had a big day.

I was at the 2022 KY Derby. They hand out buttons for each entry and I picked White Abarrio. He did not do very well that day but look at him now!
