White breeches suggestions?

I hate the thick, cottony material they use. It reminds me of the old cotton naturals breeches - high narrow waistband, thick cotton fabric. I guess some people like that but I don’t prefer it at all.

my white breeches are smartpak hadley. They’re quite like the romfh sarafina, but cheaper.

Oh great! Sounds like I will be in a pickle when I start dressage!!!

Good news; white breeches are not required! I’m showing in the light grey Piper knit silicone full seats this year. I like how they look with my white polo shirt when jackets aren’t required. Less of a magical underwear look.

Interesting! I wonder if they changed their material lately? I thought the breeches I ordered last month were very thin / silky … not thick at all. I actually wore nude tights underneath to hide underwear.

How does the Hadley fit compare to the Pipers? I’d love LOVE Smartpak to come out with a dark/black seat contrast on white breeches, esp. in silicone.

Doesn’t fit the same…I would say if you like the Romfh Sarafinas or Kerrits Crossovers, they fit like that and they’re a true midrise. I’m not a particularly curvy person and I like the way they fit, but Pipers are too low rise on me by a lot and they fall down, but I really like these.

I love the tredstep britches. I am moderately curvy and find them both flattering and non-gappy. The Rosas are my favorite. They are stain resistant and machine washable and a nice weight - not revealing but breathable.

Another vote for Ovations, though I haven’t tried the Aqua X, which are the silicone seat ones. I have 5 or 6 pairs in multiple colors, including white, of the Ovation Euroweaves (some Celebrity/Slim Secrets included). They are extremely durable, comfortable, even the full seats are good in the heat and humidity of FL (I suspect it’s the Drilex material lining the full seat), they’re a good opacity, and they’re woven rather than knit (thus better at camouflaging bumps). The only point on your list they may not meet is the super sticky–but like I said, I haven’t tried the AquaX with silicone. I found the Taylored style to run a bit small, but the other styles I have fit true to size.

The Ovations have everything you ate looking for.
The Euroweaves

Get black ones. They show much less dirt and they are more slimming!!!
Oops… I forgot. We aren’t supposed to be logical.

I also love my Royal Highness for all the reasons listed above.

OK, lest you think I have deserted this thread, I currently a shopping cart with $700 of breeches in it…

Dover has only 1 brand of white breeches with a dark seat, so no point schlepping to Moraga for that.

I was reminded that I like my Goode Rider breeches, and for $189 I could have a white pair with a gray seat. So that’s one option.

The list in contention that meet ALL the criteria (allegedly) are:

  • Royal Highness Piped FS Breech
  • Romfh Sarafina Full Seat
  • Romfh Isabella
  • Ovation Aqua X FS Breech
  • Ovation Celebrity FS Breech
  • Smartpak Piper
  • Goode Rider Iconic
Next decision is size.

What’s the best bet if I like the fit of Goode Rider and Kerrits, prefer a wide waistband and medium rise, and am usually right between a 26 and a 28 (24 in Trainer’s Choice, 26 in Goode Rider and Riding Sport, or S in Kerrits, 28 in others (and reality))

Take the Pipers off your list. They don’t age well. The seams on the euroseat start puckering and they just look cheap and nasty. I’ve actually had similar issues with the Ovation Celebrities, and mine pilled, so they’d be off my list, too. Romfhs seem to hold up well but don’t wear stripey underwear.

If you’re curvy or prefer a medium rise, Pipers will not work. I tried them because everyone raves about them and they’re reasonably priced. There was no way in ____…

I love the way FITS fit me but unfortunately they are not cool but they work for when it’s not summer time.

Ovation run small and I always get 1 size up.

I have a pair of ariats that are nice and stretchy. Also lightweight and not see through. Clarino seat, I wish the seat was white or grey though.

A friend of mine reps Mastermind, and so I tried some on at one point even though I’m a h/j person and don’t do full seat (they now have knee patch). I think they are not quite as breathable a fabric as I prefer for a tech type fabric, and I will say that the higher rise ones are the only ones that didn’t gape in the waist for me. So, not the most comfortable if I was shopping for a schooling breech, but one I’d consider if I needed whites. The white dressage breeches have a gray seat and they have their end of season sale right now (they are $$$ at full price). They do have a sock bottom.

The colored ones are also popular at my barn, and while the colors are interesting, I think my friend is just a good saleswoman. lol! She has sold me on several of their fall sweaters, although I’m a TS breech devotee.
