White breeches suggestions?

I’m looking for a pair of white breeches with the following attributes - anyone got suggestions?
• Light weight for hot weather, but NOT see through!
• White with a gray or black full seat
• Sticky: love the Kerrits Griptek but they are see through.
• Thick enough fabric to hide the bumps
• Sock bottoms - can't stand velcro
• Prefer zip vs pull on
• Medium rise
• Prefer not to deal with leather or deerskin etc
• $200 or less ideally?
I tend to like Kerrits and Goode Rider. Open to other options though.
• Montar Leah from DerbyHouse in the UK. Everything but #2. I have 3 pairs. Thick enough to hide bumps, of which I have many, and not see through, but not sweltering. Silicone fullseat which is the perfect balance of grippy and not grippy. A POCKET. Medium rise, nice polyamide material, sock bottom, zip and… $67. You read that right.

Edited to add- quality, fit, and finish similar to Pikeur.

If you love the Kerrits, you won’t like anything I do because I hated them - the waistband was under my armpits!

Have you tried using bike shorts or bike short type undergarments under the Kerrits? I get them a size too large so they aren’t actually compressing anything, but it smooths and avoids any kind of pinching from seams or anything.

A good pair of Pipers would fit all of your criteria.

(select the “white” color)
Pipers are breathable, come with a grey full seat, grippy, have sock bottoms, are thick enough to hide bumps, are zip on, medium rise, AND are under 100$! I have three pairs and I love them all. You really can’t go wrong with these breeches.

Absolutely love the Buckwild Breeches. Their white ones meet all your criteria and are only $100! I even tried them on with black underwear (just as a test) and I couldn’t notice unless it was really bright light at just the right angle. It’s routinely >90F when I am showing and I find them super comfortable because they breathe and don’t feel thick or bulky.

I recently bought these: http://www.ridingwarehouse.com/Ovati…scpage-AX.html they meet your criteria for being cool but not see-through. They come in white with a gray full seat. I would second that the knit Piper breeches with the silicone full seat (not sure if they come in white though) would be another great option. I have a friend who LOVES Buckwild breeches that leheath mentioned. I haven’t purchased any myself—but they do look nice and she raves about how comfortable they are.

Kerrtis Crossover full seats come in white, grey seat, sock bottoms. My breech of choice as they are machine wash AND dry. Don’t know how see-through in the white, but as for weight I wear them summer in NJ and winter in FL.

Every pair of white breeches that I have liked have been expensive.

I think it’s the heavier duty fabric - more flattering, less see through, etc. Light weight stretchy white fabric looks horrible on anyone other than a super model.

I’m tiny (seriously, I am 115 lbs) and the softer, lighter fabric is just totally unflattering.

I like Pikeur but I actually wear the knee patch (I hate full seat breeches) which is unusual for dressage riders. I buy the low rise that the jumpers wear. Mine have velcro though, so that would be an issue for you.

I also like the Pipers. They’re a thinner, lighter material but not see through, have the grey leather full seat, and sock bottoms. I think they have a silicone full seat option in the white also, though I haven’t tried that in white (I have a schooling pair in silicone, and they’re very sticky). The material varies depending on the style you get, so I can’t attest to whether it would be the same in white w/ silicone as in white w/ leather, but at least they have free sized item returns.

Ovation Euroweave or Celebrity slim. Super flattering, don’t gap in back, sock bottom and reasonably priced. http://www.ridingwarehouse.com/Ovation_DX_Celebrity_Slim_Secret_Full_Seat_Breeches/descpage-OVSSB.html They are my new favorite breeches, about to order a pair in grey.

REcently bought a pair of Ovation Aqua X. Same as slp2 above. I believe the seat is technically called “beige” but its close enough to gray. I love them.

Oh jeez this is worse than buying jeans. I just need someone to send me 12 pairs of white breeches and I’ll buy anything at this stage!

Silicone butts: do they last? Some of my Kerrits with sticky dot patterns (not silicone) got hard and scratchy and started peeling off after a year…

@exploding pony OK then - more expensive ones? Pikeur - there are so many styles I don’t know where to start. Cavallo? What else?

I am between sizes so I need a place I can do easy returns to as well… perhaps I just get Smartpack to send a dozen pairs.

@emo the Crossovers are the same fabric as the Griptek and those are the ones I find too thin, and see through, but otherwise wornderful :frowning:

@netg I don’t think I can handle the extra layer of bike shorts in the heat, sorry. :frowning:

Thanks all for the suggestions!

I love Pikeurs. They are tough and look good. I like Luganas, as they are a true mid-rise. You can often get them at a better price from UK/EU outlets, such as:

https://www.equineandcountry.com/us/pikeur-ladies-clothing/ladies-breeches.html

Yes, you could do the Smartpak test to figure out what you like.

I think the Kerrits Crossovers are way too thin.

I have some Buckwild (not white) and they are very sticky… depends on the design of the seat - some are stickier (have more silicon) than others. Fit well.
I also have some Montar (again, not white and not silicon…) and I LOVE them. LOVE the fit. I got mine from The Horse of Course but it looks like they don’t carry them any more.

Honestly I would go to a tack store and just try on a bunch - it’s the only way to get breeches. In the Bay Area you can go to the Dover store in Moraga. Or go to one of the big horse shows as a spectator and try stuff on.

You can absolutely go wrong with Pipers. They do not fit a curvy figure at all. OP, what is your general shape/body type?

I am a curvy lady and have had amazing luck with, of all things, RHC/Royal Highness. They are made in India and Indian women must be shapely. These breeches meet all your criteria and are ~$109 or so. I do have to go up a size but the breeches are all mid-rise with comfortable 2" waistbands and, importantly, will stay up without a belt. I just ordered 2 different pairs of white breeches (1 mid-rise and 1 high-waist, both with black full seats) so I will update this thread when they come.

Love Pikeur too, but the price point makes me such a sad panda.

For those sad about the Pikeur price and who know their size, Calevo in Germany is having a relocation sale and everything is 15% off plus another 19% off for VAT and they flat rate for 25 euro to the us. I just got 3 pair for around $140/ea. Lots of white available.

I’m curvy and I can not stand gaping at the back of my waist band. Breeches I have tried

• Kerrits - Agreed, WHY ARE THEY SEE THROUGH? I have a tan pair for lessons I like
• Dover Competition II - Velcro at ankle but I got them for $40 on sale and they fit and don’t me me look terrible
• Pipers - They don’t fit me and I hate the logos everywhere on them
• Romfh Sarafina - Nice fabric, not see through but had lumps, deal breaker was the gap at the waist on me
• Ovation Heiress - Checks all your boxes if they fit your body type. I’m short through the waist and they came up past my belly button
• Ovation Aqua something - I didn’t like these at all. The fabric did feel really cool but they didn’t have enough 4 way stretch for me to really let my leg hang naturally and not bunch up in the crotch/hip. Other people seem to like them though
• RJ Classic F/S (can’t remember the model name) - If I recall they were $185 but dannnnnnng when I tried them on at the store they checked all the boxes and felt amazing on. I didn’t have the money for them at the time but I’m planning on ordering them on-line
• Horze Grand Prix - I just ordered the silicone F/S breeches in white for a show in September. I own a few of their older style and they fit me great so fingers crossed

I will add that I wear a “liner” under my show breeches, I bought this one size bigger so it wasn’t cutting me in half and I don’t find them too hot or stuffy (and it was 93F and crazy humidity at my last show). I really like how it smooths everything out and I don’t have any lines when I get professional pictures taken.

3rd Buckwilds – they run a smidge large, but have a nice medium rise and are unbelievably comfortable. I’d say they aren’t my most flattering pair of breeches and tend to be a smidge thinner than I’d like (but nice and light for hot shows!), but under a coat and with a belt, who cares.

4 th on Buckwild. My DD has the white show breeches. She won’t even look at anything else now. I have many pairs of their breeches and love them.
