Those of you who have fuller figures, 34/36, what full seat breeches do you recommend? Prefer to stay on the cheap, but more importantly I need comfortable, breathable, nice looking, and fitting breeches.
Why go for white??!! The most impractical colour EVER around a horse, not the most flattering for the majority of figures, stupid to wash and the rules only ask for a āconservativeā colour. Iām old enough to remember when white breeches were worn only by men and only with top boots. Fashion? Pah!!!
Ok, Iām off my hobby horse, rant over. I hope you find some that you like.
I have found that any of the white breeches with the darker seats are more flattering, i.e., white with dark grey or black seat. Not to mention they are more practical because there is less staining from the saddle, etc. Good luck.
I like a lot of stretch/movement and find a lot of the styles too constricting. I stick with Irideon Cadence breeches most of the time. The slightly ribbed texture makes them a bit more flattering than average, although they arenāt super thick.
Romfh have a couple different fits - Champion are more curvy, Isabella is high waisted, Sarafina is mid-rise. All go up to at least 36, and some sizes/colors to 40. Fabrics are stretchy, but with enough body to be opaque and smoothing. Laura Romfh really works hard to design breeches that look great on all body types.
If youāre showing at rated dressage shows, the rule book states you must wear āwhite or light-colored breeches or jodhpursā for all tests through Fourth Level. You can certainly get away with tan or very light gray breeches, although the latter can be tough to find.
The Romfh Isabella full seat is a good choice if your waist is narrower than your hips. Itās designed for curvy riders of all sizes and is available in a 34 (regular and long) and 36 (regular). Itās touted as a high rise, but I find it hits just under the belly button on most people. The material is nice and the contrast seat is flattering.
Horze has a variety of full seat breeches. Most of theirs are a silicone seat, but the silicone is good quality. The Horze Grand Prix silicone grip full seat is a mid-rise style that is good for people with a straighter body shape. Itās available in a 34 regular.
Irideonās Cadence full seat is a thicker, ribbed material that offers some compression and support; it is a popular choice for many riders because the fabric hides any trace of cellulite and nearly guarantees no visible panty lines. It is available up to a 3X size in regular and petite lengths.
I will second the Romfh breeches. I just bought a pair of purple Champions and I like the cut. They come in white. My absolute favorite white breeches are Romfh Lexingtonās⦠which of course were discontinued a few years ago. I managed to stockpile a few white pairs for showing ðŸĖā
Horze Grand Prix fit me well - I carry my weight in my thighs and booty
Im a 36. I ride in Ovation with a grey seat. my only complaint is the sock portion of the breech. It is sewn around the circumference of the calf, which is like a rubber band for me with 18 inch calfs. They are affordable and only wear the brand for showing.
Stay away from Piperās - while the gray seat is nice, they are for straight bodies and are a wee bit flimsy, fabric wise. Thatās fine when theyāre navy or rust, but white?? Eeep! I donāt have white ones yet (on my list to try on at a certain 5* event this weekend), but I quite like my Horze breeches. Theyāre my bloat breeches, for when I need a little extra breathing room. They run smidge large and have nice thick fabric, that is still breathable in the summer! I also like where they hit my belly button - quite flattering with tucked in shirts
I love Romph sarafinas, but for lower price range (and commonly on sale) I find that the smartpak Hadleys are awesome. Iām a 34/36 5ā9 apple body type and find that I love how they fit.
I am built like Sponge Bob and just tried on the USG Lara breeches. They were FABULOUS. I liked that they have pockets in the back.

These are not full seats but you can see the back pockets
I also like Cavallo breeches. The Cavogrip is super!
They are more expensive.

I also love the Horze Grand Prix, I wear a 44⦠extra curvy!
Iām a fan of the FITS breeches but they either work for you or they donāt. They donāt come in the various fits & styles that most brands do.
Iām 5ā5", middling overweight, pear shaped AA and FITS is pretty much all I ride in these days.
How do the sizes run between the Sarafinas and the Hadleys? Do you wear the same size in both? I find I size down in Sarafinas relative to most brands.
I showed for years in Irideon Cadence (I like them, they run small). However my new super favorites are Buckwild Curvy Mare in White with a black seat with high quality silicon printed on the black. Love, love, love. Not expensive, washes up very well, decent thickness but NOT super thick and hot. I am size 36 with all of it in hips/thighs (not waist as much).
I have tried on several styles of Romph breeches but find that they show every lump and bump and they gap in the waist (for me anyway).
Another fan of the FITS breeches. I know they arenāt inexpensive. I recently purchased some of the high waist Horze breeches and while they gap at the waist and Iāll have to either sew some darts into the waist or always wear a belt, they are nice.
Buckwild was making a dye-able cotton breech for a while - I dyed mine cream, then I got Fuller Fillies Sticky Vicky Breeches in white - I dyed those cream as well. Apparently Fuller Filliesā parent company is in receivership, but you can still get some NWT off of the used Fuller Fillies site. I am still sad that Equissentials went out of business, I treasure my eggshell deerskin seats from them⦠I hate hard white breeches - I think cream is much more flattering, but finding cream breeches in plus sizes is nigh on impossible! Dying polyester white breeches is also hard, they have to be cotton to take the dye well.
