Who is Andrew Temkin?

I saw where his name has been added to the Safe Sport “list.” Got an email this morning from USEF. Never heard of him. He is in California. This “list” USEF maintains I think should not be a member only access. Should be open to anyone who competes at any show regardless of membership status…just sayin’…

Edited to add the list IS available to non-members. USEF responded very promptly to my inquiry about who can see it. Good that everyone can see it, member or not.

He is an attorney and a FEI one and two star TD. Safe Sport is the goofy attempt at the USEF to have harassment training for officials and trainers.

I had never heard his name and I live in Cali but not where he is obviously. In my humblest of opinions, which do not ever make me be right, every allegation has to be thoroughly investigated before pronouncing “judgement.” I don’t know what he is alleged to have done. Not my business unless it is made public thru the legal system. I am a survivor of sexual harassment, hence my experience causes me to think a little differently than maybe, someone else. I feel very strongly about education of what is and isn’t cause for investigation and charges. He is an attorney you say…well…then whatever his legal expertise is will be used possibly to fight whatever allegations have been levied against him. I am trying not to judge and practicing whatever pitiful diplomatic skills I have, however…as a survivor, my bias is clouded somewhat. I will always believe the accuser first because I remember how I wasn’t believed. Accuser is the one who has to do the proving in a court of law. I did not mean to bring up my past situation, just trying to explain why I believe education is so important and should be required training for all USEF officials. They have authority and positions of power over competitors. Anyone with that type of power has to know what the boundaries are. Jimmy Williams did not and the consequences for those survivors have been ahborrent. I appreciate your statement, just don’t agree with it entirely.

What are the criteria for being put on this USEF list? Is that documented anywhere on their website?

If the allegations are in fact true, then he deserves to be on there. However, what’s to prevent someone from making an accusation that gets that person on that list even if it’s not true? Does some proof have to be demonstrated?

Are there public allegations in this case?

This is all I found:

“The following individuals have been placed on an interim suspension by the U.S. Center for SafeSport pending the outcome of a formal investigation and final decision.”

What happens then if there is an investigation and the conclusion is that he didn’t do anything?

As I mentioned before, if he is doing bad stuff he should have the book thrown at him.

On the other hand, how do we prevent witch hunts where people get accused for something they didn’t do?

You can’t. But you can’t in any other circumstance where there is a formal complaint process, from the law courts to arbitration to HR.

Beth, Boy your’e full of it. You are in Nor-cal and you say you do not know and never heard of him? If you have evented in California you would have seen him officiating several of your events, he also competed up through FEI level and lives in Nor-ca. His daughter is a popular young rider in nor-cal and is on the team for Rebecca. He’s worked as an attourney for the USEA and His ex wife is a successful trainer in nor-cal as well. Me thinks YOU just wanted to stir the POT. Then just post the link and stop creeping around the topic with I’ve never heard of the man BS. This is a small community in California we all know each other!

If he’s guilty he should be banned if he’s not then there should be another email and post that follows exonerating Andrew.

Many folks weighing in on this and how long ago something happened does not change the facts. Did not help Jimmy W even after his death. I find it hard to except when someone says well thats in the past and a long time ago, if you did something terrible you should be held accountable no matter how great you may be at another facet of your life such as coaching or officiating.

Hoping he is not guilty as I am a fan of his Officiating at shows. I know nothing of his private or family life, he’s just another friendly face at shows.

Not an overreaction at all.

PS did you create an alter just for this nonsense?

Lady,

Been a member since 2016 so guessing reading is not a huge strong suit for you. Although it all makes sense as Beth’s FB page is nothing more than a giant advertisement for an angry activist with a chip on her shoulder. We all got the same email from USEF Beth. Let the investigation reveal the truth.

You’re charming! I can see why you don’t participate much in conversations.

how dare someone not know someone! Wow Beth, you suck!

Also it’s super funny that you think Beth shouldn’t even ask who this guy is (read crazy), she’s not even in anyway talking about accusations (which she actually can do here as she already meets the name/location criteria…which you also know from your f b stalking), so what the heck do you want her to stop talking about dude!? Again, I think some people weirdly join message boards without being on board with that whole discourse concept.

Dear Westieeventer, thank you for sharing your strongly worded statement. No, I do not know him. I fly very low under the radar as most young horse trainers do. Maybe we will run into each other at a jumper show, have coffee, and start again on better footing. Cheers. Bethe

thank you. Westieeventer had some thoughts to share with all of us. I wish the strong words had been reread before hitting post reply, but Westieeventer has some sort of beef with me even though I don’t know who they are.

Dear Westieeventer, thank you again for sharing your strongly worded statement. I see you have taken the time to visit my Facebook page…I make no secret about my intense disrespect for iq45 but that disrespect has no bearing on a simple question I asked which was who is Andrew T. However, say whatever you like, be as disrespectful as it pleases you to be. The coffee offer will always stand, on my tab. Cheers, Bethe

Quite clearly. Also I’m sorry I keep misspelling your name! But as our resident troll pointed out my literacy is sorely lacking
