The USEF Covid guidelines specifically say that whichever rules are more restrictive are the ones that will apply at shows. So even if the state rules are lax, the more strict USEF Covid rules are the ones that are in effect.
Those shows are unrated
Ah. Then they are only governed by common sense. So⦠
Summer Classics going on at Bruceās Field right now are definitely rated and have the most lax compliance of the three post-COVID shows Iāve been to.
haul-ins are accepted.
set ups are normal.
gathering in barns without masks are high.
course walks are packed & normal.
flats are the same.
I walked past a pack of 10 huddled under a tent watching the eq yesterday, definitely not 6 feet apart, and no masks with multiple groups of parents. No one with waivers checking whoās coming in and out, like they did at a previous show, just signs posted at entrances but outside spectators still coming and going.
I know a few that have complained, and the only thing thatās happened so far is additional announcements through the weekend.
I donāt think thereās any USEF restriction against haul-ins, although I know a few shows have prohibited them. Personally Iād rather haul in and not have to worry about gatherings in the barns.
As for the other issues, you can bring them to the attention of show management, the steward or USEF directly. There were several complaints to USEF about the early Tryon shows and I believe show management took additional actions in response.
That post was in response to a post that I made on the first page about Highfields, not Bruceās field. Highfields wonāt have a rated until July, IIRC.
Im not surprised about Bruceās field because despite the venue being nice, management there is a bit of a shit show, at least it was last time I was there. They held the jumper ring for 2 hours for a BNT at one of their shows I attended.
Depends on which āBruces FieldāĀ show you attended. The ones in June are run by Bob Bell, the ones in Sept and Dec are run by Equus Events, and the May Charity shows are the only ones affiliated or run by the board of the Aiken Horse Park, so please specify to which management company you are referring. There are also as of this year January and February shows run by Progressive Show Jumping.
Santa Fe Summer Series cancelled due to the state not approving. The split rock show that was to follow hasnāt updated on if they will go or not.
Any rumors about indoors?
Does anyone even WANT to go to Harrisburg this year? I mean maybe itās just me, but everyone gets the famous Harrisburg plague even in normal years. I have no problem going to an outdoor horse show right now, but I donāt think you could pay me enough to go to Indoors this year.
Good point, I forget that itās not an owned venue like many of them are. It was a September show.
Complain to your Governor.
I canāt imagine! So glad I donāt have to think about that this year ðŸĖĀÆ
I believe they said they would give an update in early July.
Dont want to go to Harrisburg. But want to go somewhere. Could move KY earlier and do outdoors? Lots of nice outdoor venues up north of itās a little earlier.
Iām super curious to see what happens with Cap Challenge. PGEC is a county-run facility under much stricter regulations than private show facilities in MD and I heard a rumor that all events there were cancelled through August. Time will tell, but I am not sure about September being magically betterā¦
Blenheim got county and city permission to do shows at The Oaks! County show next week, No Show in July, then their first rated show in July. The shows they normally run at Showpark got moved to The Oaks because they wanted to concentrate on COVID-compliance at once show grounds.
The West Palm Events shows at Huntington Beach in July got moved to Verdugo Hills, apparently because of some sort of hang up with the county or city. I heard county but, given that the Oaks shows are going forward, maybe itās city? Weather is decidedly nicer in Huntington Beach than the SFV in July, but there is more space to spread out at Verdugo Hills (the facility formerly known as Hansen Dam).
Both sets of shows have protocols involving who can and cannot be on the grounds and in the stable area, masks wearing, etc., and (in the case of Blenheim), lots of hand sanitizer.
Jump Neeās schooling show series in Temecula this June got upgraded to rated shows. Iām not a huge fan of the footing BUT they are offering 2% back to every trainer for their entire barnās show fees. I think thatās a very nice gesture for a lot of trainers whoāve had a rough go of it in the name of safety.
What is kind of a bummer is they are charging a 3% credit card fee. And bc of COVID, you can only pay by credit card. Really not loving that.
If by footing, youāre referring to rocks, my horse was injured there last May and will never, ever go back. The facility has a long history of rocks and I am kicking myself for letting my horse go there.
The divot on the sole of his foot aligned with the three abnormalities found by MRI. Insurance paid for that, but not for the months off, nor for the āre-irritationā as my vet calls it that Iām paying for out of pocket and that the vet thinks is directly related. The facility manager told me there were no rocks. The show manager never responded to my email.
Seems a bit lax here too, even tho they just started back up- Not much different from a pre-covid show-
