Who is going to the Markel/USEF Elite Young Dressage Horse Clinic w/ Scott Hassler?

Just found out that a 4 y.o. that I bred was selected to be in the clinic, so I just bought my audit tickets and flights. Is anyone else going?? It is President’s Day weekend in Milton GA.

Awesome, I will see you there. I think I am supposed to play co-host, or something of that sort…

I’ll probably go. Have not bought my ticket yet in case something comes up as tends to happen here lately.

Which 4 year old?

I bred Finneus, who will be ridden by David Myers from Columbia SC. Finneus is a 2008 Fidertanz / Don Bedo / Debutante Westfalen gelding.

Please let me know if you can make it. Breeders, owners and riders are invited to Saturday evening dinner with the USEF Young Horse Dressage Team.

My horse’s breeder, Sandie Beddard is riding! Very excited to see her and she will get to visit my boy - he is boarded 5 min from Shannondale, if that.

I am going to make tentative plans! Thanks for letting me know!

Based on HVH’s answer to my question on the dressage thread, SEVEN of these 10 horses are US Bred. Very nice to hear that!
Also, interesting to me is that seven of this group are MARES -it will be a girl-power event;)

Really looking forward to seeing all these wonderful young horses!

We will be there!

Sherry-Anne Smith and I are both definitely attending the Saturday activities, including the dinner. Can you forward me details for the Owner/Breeder dinner?

Will you gals report back on how the clinic went, please? Have a possibility of a young horse of mine attending one of his clinics out my way and I’m curious what folks think of him…TIA!

Hi… This thread was originally from the 2012 USEF/Markel Young Horse Training Session. We had 2 horses in that 2012 event. Since then, there was a 2013 USEF/Markel Young Horse Training Session held at the same venue, Shannondale Farm in Milton, GA. There were 10 young horses ages 4-6 in the 2013 event including one of ours.

I am consistently impressed with Scott Hassler as a Young Horse Training coach/clinician. He has an excellent way of complimenting the horse/rider’s strengths, provides constructive input on areas to develop and is encouraging. Each rider feels that they come away with an excellent view on their readiness for the Young Horse Program and/or how the horse is developing in general. Scott also fills the role of an educator to the audience so that regardless of the background of the auditor, they get a good sense of why the particular area being addressed is important to the overall development of the horse. Thus, riders, owners, and auditors all come away with constructive action items that can be applied to their own horses. I am also very favorably impressed with the USEF Young Horse Dressage Program in general. It is now reaching maturity (10+ years) and fills a valuable role to educate Young Horse dressage riders and to identify and coach talented horse/rider combinations. Markel is a phenomenal sponsor of this program.

I would strongly encourage individuals who are interested in Young Horse development to attend as an auditor and/or a rider.

I didn’t realize this was an old thread, DUH!!! I just saw the February date and went for it, lol. Would still like more feedback, so far I’ve seen/heard very good things and that is exciting! TIA!
