Who is your favorite KWPN licensed dressage stallion? Why? What are their offspring like? It seems, when compared to other breed registries (Hanoverian, Oldenburg), KWPN NA has very few stallions in their registry. Does anyone know why? Are there many more overseas?
I looooooove UB40!! Just had the most exquisite colt by him a couple months ago, a black dutch warmblood/arabian cross that is to die for!!
Here is a link to see him: http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=33401537#!/photo.php?pid=35615453&id=33401537
Prestige VDL (previously ridden by Edward Gal) is a gorgeous dressage stallion that has been imported into New Zealand. Breeders here are so fortunate to have a stallion of this calibre. And he lives about 2 minutes down the road from me, so needless to say I have been quick to utilise him!
So far one of my mares has produced a simply stunning filly (multi-champion in hand as a weanling and yearling) - she will return to him this season. Another of my mares is due to have a foal by him in December. Can’t wait!!
He is tall, quite solid, and very very beautiful. His trot is huge with a bit of knee action but it is his canter that has everyone gasping - he has the most amazing canter (the Hanoverian assessors gave him a 10!) which is really important especially when you have a Thoroughbred mare base. On top of this, he has such a laid back lovely nature.
I cannot say enough good things about Prestige.
Rampal!
My 3 year old out of a Thb has a very good mind and he has a great work ethic for the little bit of undersaddle work he is getting right now. He is very well balanced.
Rampal was a favorite of mine from when he was competing, just beside myself to have one of his kids. I just wanted a nice, safe amatuer horse and wasn’t trying to get anything uber fancy from a modern type stallion. I feel like Rampal has given me a really solid horse to ride, able to do the job, no fuss no muss. Here he is 6 weeks under saddle with my trainer riding with Bob Orton.
Jazz. I think he is one of the most influential sires in upper level dressage. And of the younger stallions, Rousseau.
I am currently loving Negro… I covet his offspring.
I agree with YL. Jazz tops my list. My Stedinger mare Sofie just had a big correct Jazz colt last Sunday. He is for sale. You can see pics of San Jaco TWF on my facebook page. PM me.
Twin Willows Farm
As a rider i’d say Flemmingh because of the wonderful rideability he put on his youngsters. Of the stallions still alive I’m liking what I see of Rousseau but haven’t ridden one yet. Jazz is a name I actively avoid when shopping for a horse. I know my limitations. LOL!

But there are Jazz and then there are Jazz. I have a Florencio x Jazz filly that is a sweetheart - though we are just starting her under saddle this month so we will see if her angelic demeanor changes!
Krack C, loved how he went under Anky.
Also like Flemmingh a lot.
Another favorite of mine would be Burggraaf (mostly jumping however)

But the frozen is not good, unfortunately. I know of one Krack C offspring that was conceived in the US.
Jazz, hands down. They are often pro rides, esp. as younger horses, but I agree that he is turning out to be an enormously successful dressage sire.
Hmm, Jazz on a Stedinger mare? I bet that foal is stunning, but I would never be that brave!
I didn’t realize that YankeeLawyer.
I’ve got on older Krack C, but sadly he’s got a lot from his dam’s sire Uniform. Not sure I’d touch a Uniform again, haha.
How about the approved son Vivaldi (Krack C X Jazz), quite like that one too.

My understanding is that the Vivaldi semen was frozen using the same protocol - and it is the protocol that is the issue, not the semen per se. Other posters here have first hand experience with it; perhaps they will chime in.

I seriously doubt that TWF has any reason to be concerned given the stellar temperament of her Stedinger mare. Between us, we must have the only three well-adjusted and mannerly Stedingers. Odd. Mine are REALLY easy.
I like Rousseau and Flemmingh.
Thanks for sharing your info on Prestige, Kerole.
I’ve had a hard time getting myself geared back up to breed at all the last few years, but I have a Cicero mare with a wonderful canter and Prestige is one I’ve really thought about for her. I like the Silvano as well as the Goodtimes.
I LOVE Rousseau!!!
mpb - Prestige seems to cross nicely with most types but I wouldn’t use a big chunky carty mare with him. You could get an elephant! Cicero would be an interesting cross.
I too love the Silvano - Goodtimes - Ahorn in his pedigree.
Actually, I find it hard to say much bad about the horse!
Sir Sinclair
I have to say that Sir Sinclair is my favorite breeding stallion. I have a 3 year old homebred filly by him and she is exactly what I bred for. In a breeding stallion, I looked for a stallion that stamped his get with the qualities I needed to improve in my mare. I sought the advice of a horsewoman that I trust implicitly. Sir was her recommendation. He throws uber long legs, great movement and a kind temperament. I also love UB40, Rousseau, Flemmingh and Uphill.
