Who shows your horse at the show?

If going the schooling show route do be aware that all schooling shows are not created equal and in the long run you might do more harm than good at those that have horrible footing, lines set at random head scratching distances, unsafe jumps, etc.

If you are lucky enough to have nice schooling shows in your area that you can go to with a support team, that is wonderful.

One of my proudest moments as an owner was when one of my trainers told the person riding my horse that if he had to ride a horse in front of any owner, he would want it to be me. I love watching others ride my horse – maybe I’m weird, but it’s so helpful to see someone maybe make the same mistakes I do or do something better than I could ever dream of.

As a trainer and instructor, I spent plenty of time watching others ride and doing so is invaluable to keep a feel for what all is going on with horse and rider.
A trained eye can tell so much from the ground, even olympic competitors have someone that can help them see what they can’t from on board, although today’s videos help very much also.

I think using both, your feel from the horse and what you keep seeing on the ground while horse ridden by someone else are complimentary.
You then can better try other and help horse better, now with more information to go by and goals to work for.
