Who uses stressless leather halter

After 10 years my leather halter broke yesterday when my boy was on the cross ties. I am kind of excited to get a new leather halter but trying to choose the one is driving is driving me crazy. Looking at the nice halter on sale then I started thinking how lovely calf-skin would feel. I am pretty sure my boy would look stunning in this antares leather halter https://picovs.ca/products/antares-halter. I do wonder about the stainless steel hardware I usually get brass. There are also halters that reduce pressure https://thehorseco.com/store/new-to-store/antares-stressless-halter.html. Are the pressure reducing halters more comfortable for the horses https://thehorseco.com/store/new-to-store/antares-stressless-halter.html.

Any experiences or opinions are greatly appreciated!

Well, I use a rope halter for ground work and training.

I use a leather halter for trailer excursions and tying up to the trailer at the destination.

I want the sharper pressure from a rope halter to handle a horse being difficult. But when the horse is tied up there’s no stress on the halter unless he freaks out and snaps it.

I love my Walsh triple stitched leather halter and have replaced the crown piece already once after some miscommunication while unloading.

I really wanted a quality leather halter that wasn’t held together with glue. If I was worried about comfort I’d add a sheepskin roll.

If you’re going for this model, price the replacement crown pieces. That’s likely what will snap first.

I did not find the stress-less to do anything miraculous. If correctly sized, I don’t see how a halter would apply excess pressure anywhere.

This a new a company that makes beautiful triple-stitched leather halters, and you can choose brass or steel hardware:

With my current leather halter the brass snapped when horse pulled back/freaked out bf the leather did. It was the clip on the throatlatch. I didn’t expect that. I got it repaired, which can be a butt pain (actually my pal got it fixed as a gift).
