Whomever(s) recommended Endosorb? You gave me a GREAT Christmas Present!!!

I ordered the Endosorb and Fortiflora and received it 12/24. Up til that point, even with the kaopectate on board, the best we’ve gotten in MONTHS is liquid stool with a “plug” that got him through the night.

I started him on the Endosorb and Fortiflora in the evening of 12/24. Every stool since then has been normal. No joke. Not just a plug with liquid stool behind it, but completely firm and normal.

He had been on the Fortiflora previously for about a month, but Endosorb is new to the mix.

So right now, he’s on Z/D, Endosorb, and Fortiflora. I’m not even giving the full dose of Endosorb–he’s getting 3 tabs twice a day with his meals instead of being dosed every 4 hours as recommended for an acute onset.

I have more research to do to see if this is something that is safe longer term. I emailed both my doctor at MSU and the one here locally with the update.

But for right now? OMG, so happy! Thank you!!!

Ahh. Well, this might point you in a new direction as to what the cause is. They didn’t turn up any funny bacteria in the stool tests right?

I have always been one to understand being geeked about horse poop. But dog poop? This is a new one for me. And I really AM geeked.

Haven’t opened a single Christmas gift yet, and if they all went poof! i’d still be so bloody happy!!!

When you said “plug” that got him through the night, I actually did an RCA dog head tilt trying to figure out if you meant a real plug, the ethics of using said plug, and if so… how you kept it in.

I am so excited for you and also so excited for ME! I’ve been dealing with “pudding poops” in my Beagle as a residual of antibiotic and prednisone treatment for Lyme/Erlichia. The Fortiflora, metronidazole and a chicken/rice diet have not helped and I was hesitant to try the Endosorb.

I just ordered some and we can’t wait for it to arrive! :yes:

Outfxed…it might not be the right thing. I’m not a vet. I’m just a desperate person. With a big dog. Who poops big. Liquid or solid. I prefer the latter!!!

Buddy Roo, I did talk to my vet prior to ordering Endosorb. Based on the last two months of medications and now this chronic “pudding” problem, she has said to try the Endosorb “by all means” for a few days to a week to see how that works. I read her the ingredients and with her blessing, we are going to try it.

Thanks for your concerns! Again, congrats with your issue on its way to being solved. That’s why I have been selfishly watching your saga and hoping for something to plug up the dam. Yay you!

I don’t see how that stuff could cause problems even if fed long-term, but of course it is again not a cure for the underlying problem- there’s something amiss in your doggy’s gut. Everything points towards something is growing in there and releasing toxins. I can see how they might miss it on tests- even a very small population of toxin-releasing bacteria could make enough toxin to cause diarrhea, while the tiny amount of bacteria would make it virtually impossible to detect the culprit. Perhaps tests for common toxins vs. tests for bacteria would be effective?
It’s possible if you just keep feeding good probiotics they’ll eventually crowd out whatever nasty thing is in there, and you’ll have a cure without ever knowing the cause.

Wendy, I hear you. I really want an actual diagnosis. That’s my nature. But after months of this crap, literally, I’m at least happy for a few good mornings. I have turned into a bear with all of the getting up mid nights, scrubbing floors, etc. We can do more tests of course, and will. But just having some short term relief is awfully nice.
