I love watching Kentucky Downs. I love the all turf for 5 day meet with nice purses.
Just caught Race 5 on opening day. 12 horse field, gate opened before the #6 or #12 had even been loaded (not bad loaders, just still behind the gate).

Just heard, Stewards called the whole race ‘no contest’.
That’s a big WHOOPS 😬
Especially since Kentucky Downs is a ship in meet about 3 hours away from any other racing civilization.
People ship to Lexington or Louisville from all over then van them down for the race. Quite the trip only to have the starters blow the race. But hey, sh*t happens.

Well, nobody’s perfect. Good that no one was hurt.
This yes. I was watching one track last week (I think it was). Horses were still loading and one of the gates opened and the starter almost got taken out. I’m impressed when one breaks through the gate and the assistant is able to hang on.
