Why can't I find this?--storage cabinet for trailer.

I am looking to maximize the space in my horse trailer and get a bigger storage cabinet. Right now I have a Stanley tool chest, but since I event it would be nice to have more space for my stuff (I have no dressing room, and a crew cab truck). I am looking for a plastic (preferably) storage unit with shelves, approximately 48" h x 36" w x 20" deep. But I can’t fin anything. The closest is this, but I hate to not be able to utilize the extra height available.

Any ideas on where to look?

I found this. A bit pricey though.

Well the link won’t go directly there. But it is the tall plastic one.

I have a couple of the garage base cabinets from Lowes. They have held up well. you might be able to get them on sale this time of the year.

Thanks. I need something at least 20" deep.

This may be what you link in your first post? It is 20" deep. $85 bucks all in doesn’t seem pricy to me, though.

Oh, this looks to hit your desired dimensions:

I have the Suncast-3600 base cabinet in Simkie’s #6 post. It has been very durable. It is 30" x 36" x 20 1/4".

Look through IKEA’s website because they are the stars of small space use!!!

Jim_In_Pa retrofitted a nice one into his trailer but it was hand crafted. If you know someone who is handy with tools it’s a good option.

What a great thread!! We have a cattle trailer as our ‘daily hauler’ and it does not have a tack area. I was trying to think of a way to put a weather proof tack area into the trailer so I wouldn’t have to keep piling everything into the back seat of the truck.

I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

I have the suncast ones in my barn. Hold up well. I also have a taller one (taller than 48") . BOth are from HD.
In my trailer I have a plastic set of drawers from WM. It holds lots of stuff, but not saddle pads. I think drawers are better than shelves for a trailer.
A friend has wall-hung kitchen style cabinets mounted in her gooseneck. Look in the garage storage aisle at Lowes and HD. Lots of options in plastic.

That one looks good, although $300. The one at McMaster Carr is 48" tall and $400. Maybe I will call Lanchester trailer and see if they have anything.

Drawers and shelves might be nice. I would rather have my saddle on a shelf, because I think I would not bang it up as much getting it in and out.

I made my own.

They double as seating and storage. I have a battery with an inverter and a refrigerator in there as well. They are about 20"x20."

2 4x8 panels of 1/2" plywood and 6’ of 1x1 trim. Polycoat finish. Added hooks etc. for things inside.

I would say you can build a similar cabinet to what is being advertised a for about $80 (depending on how nice you want).

May I ask how you will attach this to your trailer? With new horse I had to sell enclosed trailer w/tack under manger and go to steel stock type straight load. I’m just now getting around to the plexiglass for slats and am lost after that!
