Why can't people clean up after their horses?

What do you do when you have to pee??[/QUOTE]

Lol

Disclaimer here: I’m a beginner, so I haven’t gone out on trails. I ride in the arena only. It was a genuine question when I’m brave enough to go out on my own. I never learn how to mount from ground, but now I knw it’s possible

Couple more comments from past version of same discussion elsewhere…

Most horses poop near the trailer or in the first or last 1/4 mile of the ride. Not hard at all to pick up near trailer and anything not far out on the trail and well worth it for the PR

Speaking of PR, we frequently hear about how horse people don’t help on work days. Some of that relates to the fact that a lot of us are maintaining different open space back at the farm. Some to the fact that hikers and bikers can ‘do their thing’ while working, but it really doesn’t work well to bring the horse along most times.

BUT the most startling in our area was when we asked horse folk to wear a horse related t-shirt on the work days. Suddenly there was a greater awareness of more horse people out there helping. The other users assumed everyone was a hiker/biker unless otherwise identified and there were a lot of people who were helping who are horse folk or at least multi-users.

Often in this neighborhood, horse folks are the ‘only’ ones who work on the trails- hikers also very active, bikers least so, seemingly. But Back Country Horsemen is who often gets the first call for help on things like fire rehab or trails washed out by floods and snowmelt. We can pack things into areas where machinery can’t go. Some chapters do have little signs they put up when out working on the trails, just a little ‘publicity’ at the trail heads.
