Who cares?
Ha! There’s actually some truth to this. I remember talking to a male dressage trainer that confessed that as a teenager he started riding dressage because of all of the women! The odds are certainly in a man’s favor.

So what if I prefer Women’s breeches? I have a few pairs which I wear around the barn. When I’m showing, I wear men’s breeches. How is this relevant? I don’t understand how whenever a touchy subject is Brought up like this thread everyone instantly thinks it’s a troll thread? I was just having a conversation about a stigma that exists in our community?..
choo chooooo!

Am I missing something? I don’t see where anyone said anything about you wearing women’s breeches.

That’s how we know it IS a troll.

Wasn’t there a horse who even Edward Gal was afraid of riding so he had Hans Minderhood ride it for a short time? Maybe that was Toto even?
There is an interview with him where he talked about Totilas and he mentioned that he was kind of scared of him initially.

You should be free to wear whatever you want without ridicule. It’s relevant because the mindset that tells you women’s breeches are “inappropriate” for men is the same mindset that says playing outside the gender lines is bad, and that “effeminate” behavior (in this case riding dressage) should be stigmatized. Whoever brought it up as a humorous thing is enforcing the stigma.
Because you make it sound like you have a problem with being seen as gay despite your protest to the contrary. A better question is - why do Americans perceive dressage as an “emasculating” sport, and why do they have such a pathological fear of emasculation in the first place? (hint: let’s all think really hard about culturally entrenched misogyny ;))

Let me guess. You one of those self-righteous Hillary voters who tries to turn every single discussion on any topic into a chance to slam Trump or anyone else who doesn’t share your particular world view. Am I correct?
Otherwise, why make such an odd comment that has nothing to do with the topic at hand?
It’s an odd comment for sure, an unrelated to the post – let’s not start a side thread on the presidential election – or take it to another thread.
it isn’t just dressage, I grew up riding jumpers and smart girls just assume the men are actually gay until you hear otherwise or they hit on you. this is “smart” because then you don’t get all emotionally invested in a totally unavailable man. I don’t know anyone who cares really, but why waste time with love, just be friends.
However, I’ve always thought that it is very smart for straight men to ride dressage or jumpers because they often have their pick of a very large litter.

I teased my sons that even an ugly boy could get a girlfriend at a horse event.
They were/are not ugly and never in need of a girlfriend.

Good parenting. Because only looks count.

I doubt very much that very many people think that every male who rides dressage is gay, nor do I think it would be a stigma if they were.
There would not be any scandals erupting between trainers and young female students, if all the male riders were gay!

Go for it, it seems like many breech manufactures are cutting their ladies patterns for a more boyish shape.
Breech color is where the wheels may come off. Brown, navy, olive, charcoal, black. White for shows. Great.
If you choose the hot pink with purple piping though…
