Why does Chantal put the bandana under her helmet?

Why does Chantal put the bandana under her helmet? Keeps her hair out or the way, I’m guessing, or keeps the sweat out of her helmet? Maybe both? Do other jocks do this? (Yes, probably the men don’t have hair as long as her but I’m wondering if it is a sweat absorbing thing.)

(I just saw the documentary, Chantal, on TVG.)

Just wondering.

Actually, I use a bandana under my helmet too. I am a ‘chubby old broad’ and happen to sweat alot in my face/scalp (TMI, I know!)…

The bandana keeps the sweat droplets out of my eyes when riding in a lesson or competing, and they are easier to wash and replace than the helmet liner…

75% of riders do this in the morning. I haven’t seen many jocks do it in the afternoon but I’m sure it happens. Helps keep hair from getting in your face, sweat from getting in your eyes, etc.

Makes your helmet fit ‘right’, sometimes. If I don’t do my ponytail ‘just so’, the helmet feels shakey. Ditto bandana. Might be that her helmet fits better/right with the bandana. (Bet she has to tie is ‘just so’!)

This is it for me. Also–though probably not in the case of Chantal–when I was galloping at Saratoga, I kept it tucked over my ears to keep the disgusting gnats from pinging off of me.

Me… Four, or five or whatever we’re up to. For all the same reasons (except the gnats).

psst … it was HRTV’s “Inside Information”

I watched the show and sadly it proved she grates on me when she talks and what she says. A very nice woman in how she treats so many people around her. For that she deserves respect and I think her riding is just fine. However I doubt I could spend more than 5-minutes around the woman.

Hell, I always did it cause it looked cute!

I have a pink one that says “Wicked Bitch” on the forehead.

Kind of says it all really.

I wear one under my helmet all the time, it does see to stay put better.

Can’t wear it hunting though.

Oops, sorry, Glimmer, you are right.

I TOTALLY agree with the rest that you said.

She’s a great rider with lots of personal gusto, but “GAG” on a lot of the rest of it.

With her $$$ you’d think she’s getting short gel nails done at the salon, instead of doing them herself. Or if that is just her marketers - enough with the nails. Eh, I just try to think that maybe it’s her marketing people and not how she is.

I loved her parent’s farm, though.

Oh! My helmet has felt shakey since I cut about six inches off my hair length. I’ll try a bandanna, thanks!

I had the same issue after I had all my hair cut off - bandana solves it perfectly, and much more cheaply than replacing helmet with a new one.

I cut all of my hair off too and ended up with a loose helmet as well. I bought a $2 terry cloth head band from a sports store- it works perfectly.

Me too, I do the bandanna do rag deal as well. Not supposed to, as your helmet is supposed to fit without the rag under it but I sweat too much.

It’s pretty standard for us women to wear a bandana under helmets…same goes for riding in the afternoon. Helps keeps the sweat off and keeps your helmet from getting gross (although they always get gross). Not a lot of men wear them, but some do.

She is attractive but honestly I have to ask - why do this? (video) There is just something creepy in my view about a naked person effectively on a horse.

Bluck ! Yes, Glimmer, creepy.

A big part of beautiful is personality and something is surely lacking here for me. Again, way too much “I’m so pretty, everyone says I’m so pretty, Bo thinks I’m so pretty and oh, she’s so pretty and we are so pretty. . .” - for Gds sakes - STOP. Holy Moly.

Something about her “pretty” deal, reminds me of a 12 year old getting into Mom’s makeup and playing dress up & “I’m so pretty”. (Yes, I know she’s not a 12 year old, she really does kick — in life. Good going but oh so not my style.)

Those who have it don’t have to keep putting it everyone’s face. So not elegant.

GAG (in size 50 font).

Now, if it’s all her publicist, then I do apologize, I think.

Does anyone else notice how with her “e” or “y” words they sort of get said in a cutesy sort of say. Pretty becomes pretteeeeeee; jockey becomes jockeeeeeee. Um, yuck.

OK, I’m horrible.

Is she a great jockeeee, though - yes, for sure.

I have a bandana under my helmet always. It absorbs sweat, helps my helmet not move.

At some point I’d like to think Chantal will come to the same conclusion that Danica Patrick has realized - sex sells up to the point but there is no place but down and there is no professional (or economic) longevity to keep pushing it …

Union Tribune (San Diego) 7-27-12 “Sutherland promotes mobile app code on her, ah, backside”

Again, Bluck ! I could say more but it would not be “Chronicle” fitting.

Thanks for the info. Remember the line, “things that make you go hmmm?”

I didn’t realize Danica had gone that route, also. I don’t follow her sport and I guess I just was not aware of any of the goings on.

Ha ha…“no your pretty”’,“no your pretty”’, " no your pretty"… Excuse me while I hurl!

Never had any respect for either of them before, and this just proves why…
