There’s a thread right now about WP practices on the HJ forum, which is probably the last place it should be, but there is no real forum for this topic… We have one for trail riding, but I think one for pleasure, reining, trail, halter, etc. would be beneficial to COTH. Is there a reason there isn’t one?
Because COTH the board covers the same topics that COTH the magazine covers. And those topics do not include western/western pleasure. There are lots of other boards that do cover those topics. COTH isn’t one of them.
Overo, while I do see Ammy’s point…I also agree with you…it would be nice to have a board like you mention…if for nothing else, to educate. 
This is not a western board.Never will be.The closest you will get is the trail riding.

Makes sense. I just saw that we had forums for racing, driving, and hunting which seem like much smaller sectors of the equestion community than pleasure, reining, halter, and trail, especially with all the crossovers such as Western Dressage. Thanks for explaining Ammy!
Since Reining is now an olympic sport, i think it would be nice to have a place for it.
It’s a shame COTH doesn’t cover any Stock Horse topics. In my humble opinion I believe their professional journalism would be quite an asset.

I agree And hopefully would be a great way to showcase both types (stock horse people and sporthorse people) to each other more

Yet COTH has nonsensical (foolish) Off Topic days at least once a month, which have absolutely nothing to do with horses. 
Yet a Western topic is not allowed. :sigh:
Well hopefully the Mods will think about it!
It’s hard enough to explain or get thru the prejudices that exist now with random “western” postings
it’s own forum would be a total nightmare

Tamara, I see what you are saying, but there are prejudices and stereotypes against all the major disciplines. It’s like politics, you don’t get to the top unless some people out there hate you. I could definitely see a nightmare arise if people were tooting the HYPP N/H stallions as gorgeous creatures, but I think it deserves a chance.
At the end of the day, it’s up to the Mods and I will respect any decision they make. I would really value the opinion of a CoTH Mod btw on this thread 
Isn’t that the same as every discipline? Perhaps a Western forum can educate and eliminate or diffuse some of the prejudices or innocent ignorance regarding Western riding.
A Trail Forum is a not a Western Forum. Can be ridden English or Western and is a totally different discipline.
Heck, if we have a Forum for dogs and cats (The Menagerie), why not for Western? And the same saying applies…if someone doesn’t like it, they don’t have to read it.
