Why is it when you purchase a mare,

All you can start to do is think about possibly breeding down the road. With this mare, I am stumped as to what bloodlines to possibly cross. Here is a link to her pedigree… The picture is from August last year, I had her only a couple weeks at the time. I believe she needs a stallion that is known for improving the canter. She has fantastic Rideability and confidence…

Your mare is a lot of F-line going to Florestan closeup and in the back, backseat. with a touch of Donnerhall and Royal Angelo / Rosenkavalier, just a lot of good stallions in there.
The dam line carries Matcho, a refining Angloarab which is very very good.
The Donnerhall cross works very well with F-line so I would start there. I would look at your favorite Donnerhall sons/grandsons maybe with some line breeding(multiple occurrences).

You could also consider going back to another F-line stallion with lots of Donnerhall built in…like Furstenball or one of his sons. Finest would bring some Princh Thatchxx to go with that Match AA in your mares pedigree. You can also get some Prince Thatch xx with the Donnerhall son Don Principe.

Floriscount also comes to mind.

If it were my mare, I would also consider Ampere, just for the Holsteiner.

Hopefully someone else will have other suggestions for you.

I would be inclined towards a D-line stallion. Many, many options either fresh or frozen.

Congrats on a lovely mare!!!

I would also lean toward a D-line stallion. Maybe a D/W, like Dante Weltino. Lots of options with this mare!

I was definitely thinking that’s a lot of Florestan, I would be looking for some genetic diversity. Your best bet is to be adding in strong producing lines just like the F-line; I’m in favor of a double bred D or W line or a D/W cross.

I have no input, except to tell you that your mare is gorgeous.

Thanks for the ideas and compliments!! She is turning out better than I could have imagined. Have her in with a fantastic trainer and only get to ride her a couple times a week, but she is my dreams come true.

this album has images of us from March…

Nice mare Paula.
Krammer has some great horses.

Love all the D-line and he is more refined plus has the Sandro for the movement.
I don’t think he is necessarily a foal maker but the adult versions are special.

I can attest to this mare’s amazing character and rideability. She is very workman like, very willing, takes pressure well and is very confident.

You know my thoughts Paula :

Belissimo M would also be high on my list for improving canter and keeping that rideability.

Schroeder puts on a fantastic canter. I could see her crossing well with this mare.

The Krammers did breed some great horses, after dealing with Flyte, makes me wish they hadn’t given up breeding.

I had been a bit stumped as to what direction to possibly look (as Donella can attest to, although she gives great advice & suggestions :))

I am really liking some of these suggestions. I even admitted to my husband tonight that I was thinking of possibly eventually breeding Flyte…

If I were going to breed this mare, I’d look hard at Benidetto.

Well I can actually say we went in a completely different direction when breeding my mare. She is currently in foal to Secret and due in July…
