Wide-Brim Type Helmets OK for Showing?

Hi!

I am fairly new to the dressage world, just this month makes a full year that I have been doing dressage

I am from hunter-land (and WP land, and barrel-racer-land!) and have recently crossed over into eventing. However, I plan on doing a good mix of straight dressage shows and HTs.

I recently fell in LOVE with the Samshield Miss Shield helmet in navy. I absolutely adore it! So here’s my question:

Is it OK to show in a wider-brimmed helmet like a First Lady or Miss Shield? Or is that more straight-jumpers/eq? I know eventing is a bit more casual, but since I plan to do straight dressage, I want to make sure a navy, wide-ish brim helmet isn’t going to make me look like a fool. Also, I dont want to invest in an expensive helmet if I’ll only be able to wear it at the very-lower levels before it turns heads.

Thanks In Advance

Go take a look at the bling thread here. With all the bling showing up in the dressage ring, I doubt the wider brim will cause any pearl clutching and the Samshield version is somewhat more conservative than the GPA with the big vents. The judges certainly won’t care, either way.

Yes, that helmet should be fine.

Yep, wide brim helmets are fine as are the attachments like equivisor.

It’s allowed under the rules. I’d wearing it if that’s all I had, but I petsonally don’t like how they look and wouldn’t go out and buy one as my show helmet.
