Are there any 5.5" stirrups out there other than polo stirrups?
The husband got hung on a pair of 4.75" icelandic stirrups. He wears a 9.5D ariat terrain, but they are BIG compared to all the stirrups I have been able to find.

How about endurance? These say they come in 5.5" - https://www.thedistancedepot.com/EasyCare_E_Z_Ride_Aluminum_Ultimate_Stirrups_p/ftr-ecaus.htm

well bummer…just had riding warehouse measure a pair for me…
tread width is only 5", total width is 5.5".
One more for you to try - Tucker has oversize, which is 5 3/4". They’re Western/Endurance, but if you get the smallest neck size (1.5") they’ll work on English stirrups.

I’ve seen guys ride in full hunting boots with these stirrups, so I think your husband will be fine in his Ariat Terrains. BTW - 5.5+" may be overkill. My husband also rides in the Terrains (11D), and he’s been fine in 5" Endurance stirrups.
I may go ahead and try the easy rides. The look like they are taller than usual. I would have said he was ok in the 4.75’s till he forgot to tighten his girth and rolled the saddle. Fortunately the horse stopped after 5 feet or so.
I find it’s more tread depth (front to back) than width (side to side) that makes a difference for me riding in my winter gumboots. A wide track stirrup like my composite Reflex irons fits the clunky boots better than a bigger width fillis type iron.
By far the best with my boots are my EZ Ride knockoff endurance stirrups that I use on my western saddle on days when my bad ankle is feeling rough. I like the support they offer, and having a deeper footbed prevents my foot from going far enough through the stirrup to get hung up.
A note on the new ez-care aluminums - the link posted by GreyDes.
I don’t know what the rep at Riding Warehouse was measuring - these are a full 5.5" branch to branch.
OTOH they are VERY light…don’t know if DH will like that or not.
What about the knockoff e-z rides. Who has them.? I can’t quite understand the difference in the $140 stirrups and the new $300 stirrups . Both are aluminum, both have replaceable pads. Whats worth the huge price difference.
Anyone love these stirrups?
