Wide foot, wide calf rain boots

I have been on the hunt recently for a pair of plain old pull on, knee high (ish), rubber barn boots. There are lots of them out there, but I have wide feet, a wide calf, a high instep, and need room in the foot to insert an arch support insole - in other words, I’m absolutely impossible to fit.

But last week, the clouds parted, the sun shone down, the angels sang, and I discovered Jileon rain boots.

My order from Amazon arrived today. They are perfect. Unbelievably perfect. Plenty of room for my arch support insole even with thick socks. Plenty of room in the calf for my fat leg, my long underwear, and my jeans to tuck inside. Enough room in the ankle for my foot to easily slide into the boot. And, bonus, they’re cute. The boots come in plain colors and with designs.

Wide calf fits up to 18 inches, extra wide up to 21 inches. I paid $89 at Amazon and since I’m an Amazon Prime member, got free 2-day shipping.

Agree, those are some cute boots…
But those prices?

IIWcheapskateM, I’d check the men’s boots at TSC.
No real choice of color, def no cute prints, but most under $40.
I do not have a skinny calf, also have stupidly high arches & got a pair of boys boots in a nice blue w/red trim that fit & lasted for several years.

Super cute!!! I have bunions, and am stuck in goofy ugly mens/boys rubber boots since it’s so hard to find womens sizes in wide for things like rubber boots. Thanks for the link, I’m going shopping!!!

I’ve looked at these and haven’t quite decided. How roomy is the calf? I measure at 17.5" and wasn’t sure if I wanted the wide (18") or if I should go up to the 21". If the wide wasn’t significantly less expensive I’d just go for the extra wide but there is about a $30.00 price difference.

The calf is really roomy. It’s got gussets on both sides that expand. I’d say that you would be good with the wide unless you wanted to tuck in multiple layers. I ordered the extra wide because I anticipated wearing ski socks, long johns, and pants, but I probably could have done fine with the wide.

Also, they advise going down a size if you wear half sizes. I did, and the foot is plenty roomy.

Definitely pricy…and the style I’d want is sold out completely in all the colors :frowning: The feed store where I work has kids boots that go up to size 6 (women’s 8) and they aren’t a great fit, but passable.

These are great. thanks for the link. One reviewer said that the inside clip keeps brushing up on the inside leg and popping open. has this happened to you?

I got “masons” boots at home depot. You can buy mens sizes. They may work.

I got my boots today. I ordered the 18" calf and they fit fine. I’ll be able to comfortably wear them over my long compression socks, a short sock for extra warmth, long johns, and breeches. My calf measure 17.5".

Any more clothes or anything really thick and I’d want the next size up.

Now I just hope they are durable.

Not yet, but I haven’t worn them out and about yet, just walking around in the house to make sure they were going to fit.

Price isn’t necessarily high depending upon the material used. So OP, let us know how long they last. If it’s only one season, thumbs down. But if you get 3+ seasons out of them they’re a bargain.

I usually buy men’s rubber boots which naturally come with a pretty wide calf. You can get cheap ones at $20 but the better ones run $60 to $80, alas, and I’m still not getting that much time out of them. If these last and are comfortable it’s a good buy.

I just looked at the tag. It says “Be careful of animal manure, as the ammonia can damage the rubber”. Well, I’ll be wading through a pasture masquerading as a poop swamp so I guess a rinse with the hose will be in order.
