Wide noseband bridle - Favorites? Dislikes?

So regardless of price, though best bang for buck would be great, what have you found to be the best wide noseband bridle. My boy is a chestnut with a big fat blaze, and other unusually markings on his face. He is a jumper but I love the wide noseband look. I currently have him in the Ovation, but somewhat disappointed in it. Leather is great but in less than a year I went from the middle hole to last hole on his noseband and quite frankly I don’t want to spend 200+ on something that stretches so much. It is a horse size.

So now I am in the market for a high quality wide noseband bridle, padded or not, doesn’t matter. Price isn’t overly a factor as long as its worth the price. ( ie I don’t spend 200 for something I can’t use anymore)

So whats out there and what’s a good deal?

I just got a KL Select Red Barn Ocala and it is very, very nice for the money. I have also always liked the Pessoa wide noseband bridle. I never loved my Bobby’s wide noseband, but I think that had more to do with my dislike of padded bridles.

I have a Pessoa Pro wide noseband and have been really happy with it!

I have the Welfleet wide noseband that I picked up in a pinch when I needed a bridle large enough to fit my dinosaur’s giant head. I was surprisingly impressed by the quality for the price. I hate the leather quality of smartpak’s other lines (Harwich especially), but the Welfleet actually seems halfway decent. It won’t be mistaken for a truly hind end bridle, but I like it way better than Ovation or even Pessoa. I even like it better than my Vespucci (which I feel like has gone down in quality).

Good to know. I had some Vespucci figure 8s for my older horse and loved them, but they also stretched so bad! So I stay away from them. I’ve love my Wellfleet hunters but their wide noseband is shaped I think? And I just want a wide straight noseband

Hoping the image upload works. My wife noseband bridle isn’t shaped, but it also may be an older model. The flash was Dyon, not part of the bridle.

I personally love the quality of Dy’on. I highly recommend JustRiding.com although I’m not sure how shipping is due to COVID, depending on where you live. They’re wonderful to work with and have amazing deals if you’re buying USD.

If you’re looking for hunter, I like Edgewood. I find if you don’t over-oil they won’t stretch out as much as people claim. I let the dirt & subsequent cleaning (soap, sponge, tiny amount of water) do the rest of the darkening.

I personally like Edgewood (though some people have stretching issues with these), New Cavalry, Hadfield’s, and Bennett’s (Jimmy’s).

For a less expensive option, I like Exselle (made by the factory that made Crosbys in their best days), but they’re hard to find and it appears they’ve discontinued their wide noseband bridle.

If you can find them, Moritz and Jeffries make great bridles. The older Bevals and Dover Wellingtons are beautiful, but hard to come by, especially in a wide noseband, and Beval is sadly no longer what it used to be.

I have a pair of Joseph Sterling reins (from Schneider’s) I like the quality of, but I bought them as old stock and am not sure how old they are and if the quality is still the same.

Aramas and Americana from HK are great choices at very reasonable prices for the quality.

I have heard the Huntley bridles are nice, but have never seen one in person yet. I’ve also heard great things about EquuSport, Horse|Man (Valencia Saddlery), etc., which are high end.

I believe Nunn Finer has a nice one as well, the Caterina, maybe?
