Wide noseband or no? (w/o flash) - Help me shop!

So originally my choice was pretty easy, I was going to get a black figure 8 for my new guy. Until we discovered that he goes way way better with a plain noseband (no flash). I’m currently using my other horse’s vespucci double raised snaffle (cob) without the flash but want to get the new guy his own bridle.

The issue is I don’t know if I should go with a wider noseband or a thinner one. He has a refined head for his size and is a plain dark brown. The refined head makes me think a thinner noseband but the plain head makes me think a wider one would look better, especially without a flash to add bulk to the whole look.

With a flash and 1.25" noseband
With a figure 8 (he would have looked fantastic in a black one )
with nothing on

So what do you all think would look best?

If his head is short, go thin. I bought a gorgeous wide noseband for a very Baroque head, but the noseband would either have been too close to the bone on his face, or interfere with the bit. His head was wide, not long. It did look cool, just didn’t function.

Personally, since you aren’t using a flash, I think a thicker noseband would look great on him! I’m also a fan of a little bit of bling on the brow band (think 1 row of clear crystals–nothing overkill!), especially for a face w/o any white.

With no flash band I’ve always been a fan of a wide noseband. I also like the row of crystals. Have that set up on my gelding and its very flashy!

Thanks guys, I was definitely thinking to get a bit of bling for him. This is a first for me since my other guy has a massive white face and lots of chrome so no bling for him

Now to find the right bridle to buy!
