I have a very high arch, which makes it hard to find boots. Some boots I can’t even get my foot into, only because of the arch. I think I just need a wide width inside the boot, but right now I’m just ordering and returning. Does anyone know boots that might work? Thanks.
I have the same issue. I was at a Horse Expo years ago and met the company rep for Anderson Bean boots. He had me try a men’s size, and they worked great. I could actually pull on their boots over my very high arch. I’d always worn lace up style boots before. Once I started buying the AB boots I branched out and tried Lucchese boots, in both men’s and women’s sizes…unfortunately, they work, too. It’s unfortunate because they’re quite pricey, but their basic boots, without exotic leathers and designs, are manageable with my budget. Good luck.
Yes, mens boots, unless you need the smaller than mens sizes, will work for high arches.
Have you tried Tony Lama?
Those tend to run wider and some models will also let you slip in easier.
Ropers also are easier to slide in than regular cowboy, taller shafted models, with the underslung heels.
Ditto on Tony Lamas. I also have a pair of Justin George Strait boots. I even fit i a regular width but they do come in wide.
And they have the cushiest gel insoles and support my high arches. Most comfortable boot I have ever had, especially to ride in.
Thanks! Will have to try some Lucchese, Tony Lama, and Justin. Don’t think men’s will work for me, as I wear a women’s size 6. But thanks for the recommendations!
You might try kids boots made for boys widths, to get the width in smaller sizes. I find the mens boots to be one or two sizes smaller numbers than womens sizes that fit me. So a 10 womens might fit, but it would be 8.5 mens D width boots are just right for me.
Severity of the toe point style will also affect sizing. Very pointed might mean a bigger size needed to fit, over rounded toes to the blunt toes of Roper style boots require to fit nicely.
I recently got a pair of lightly pre owned Twisted X boots off of ebay…they run a bit large, and the regular width feels a bit wide on me. These are a quite nice quality boot for the money. You might want to try this brand, but be sure to order at least a half size smaller.
One little thing about kids boots is the top will be shorter, that may or may not be an issue but I did try boys boots once, fit was great, just the top was too short and would catch on my stirrup fender.
Try some of the square toe boots, while I’m not crazy about the style myself, they do give you a nice wide toe box. I like the round toe better, I wear the Justin’s which come in a wide “C” fit for some of their styles. Sizing between boot brands is iffy, I’d say try your original size first then see if you need to order up or down. You might look at the Fat Baby or Gypsy styles, they have a wider round toe. I don’t think many of the Ariat boots are offered in a wide fit, Justin, Lucchese do; however, you are more likely to find Justin C Width offered by most online stores.
Dakotas are an inexpensive boot that are nice and wide. My daughter has super wide feet, they’re practically square, and those fit her just fine.
