WIHS Is Anyone Else Watching?

Alexander Alston’s horse is lovely.

And yet the stands don’t look packed!

Our barn went for barn night- I wasn’t there, so I got the report from our kids today. Evidently the showgrounds is still in need of some work to suit the volume of exhibitors and spectators. As one might imagine considering it’s the first year they’ve held it. Feeding the barn on Thursday was a problem and I’m told half our kids DoorDashed food to the front gate!

Skylar just had a really lovely go.

Lovely ride by Zayna! Acer K is such a delight to watch.

Whoof! That was not what Luke would have wanted today.

Hmm…Tonight’s World Cup class isn’t listed on the you tube channel. Darn.

I thought Zayna’s ride was better than Skylar’s. But perhaps it looked different in person.

You sure you weren’t just watching that eq horse heartthrob Acer K?

I also thought Zayna rode better than an 85.

Did anyone catch Luke’s numerical score? I heard a 150-something overall. Whatever he got in the jumper phase, my dog was howling about it.

I was looking at the 6:20PM evening tickets…not sure what was available for afternoon. But practically sold out for tonight, at 9AM this morning.

I always feel like her eq may not be textbook, but Augusta Iwasaki is the one I’d want to put on my horse to show it.

I hope I have time to shower before we start testing, because I’m supposed to be leaving to go out to dinner in 45 minutes and I’m still in breeches…

Somebody in the medal thread described Augusta as the kid who had figured out John French’s magic - and that statement rings true every time I watch her ride.

These kiddos have stamina. Several of them have competed in the Medium and High jumpers today as well as the EQ.

Luke received a 68.375.

Eeeek! I thought Skylar was about to come off there, in the middle of the awards!

So happy for Skylar winning the jumper phase! Hoping the testing goes well for her. I’d love to see her, Zayna, or Augusta win.

Did anyone catch who made it to the top 10?

Also - how do they judge it? How do the first two rounds relate to the final - is it clean slate or something different?

Ah, different tickets required for the EQ work off and the World Cup.

All rounds count equally.

I said it, I meant it, and I stand by it. All her horses lope around with a soft eye and ear like they’re happy to do it. She’s the one I would want to ride my horse, too. She has really matured as a rider in the last several years.

She really has, but I think we all knew she would. So much raw talent just needed a bit of polishing.

The horses have always loved her.

Her riding, especially under pressure in eq finals, has improved and matured.
