Recently subscribed to Clip My Horse and was watching some WIHS classes today, including, among other things, an older Ammy U/S and a couple of the pro divisions under saddle. Reins were really loose and long, hands were wide. I appreciate horses going softly but this looked a little bit like the Quarter Horse Congress (albeit with more pace). When did this trend start? I always thought the rule book and prize lists specified that light contact with the horse’s mouth is required. This was no contact. How widespread is this trend and what do people think of it?
