Will Trump place tariffs on imported horses?

Whose Customs agents are responsible for fentanyl entering the US? Here’s a hint: not Canada’s.

Does nobody else recognize that “Fentanyl Czar” is a joke of a title and Canada is laughing at the US?

Provinces have already pulled US liquor from the shelves (for those unaware, alcohol distribution and sales is controlled in most provinces by the provincial government, so they can do that). There is a wave of “buy Canadian products” going on. Ontario’s premier cancelled a big contract with Starlink.

And yes, the tariffs are a distraction from what’s actually happening, which is a coup of your government. It is scary watching from the outside where we have access to news sources that aren’t US propaganda.

There is a discredited training technique called flooding which creates learned helplessness. It overwhelms the victims mental defenses and will to resist.

Just before the tariffs were “put on hold”, Canada announced that it would divert sales of aluminum to the EU. Domestic production in the US has fallen dramatically in recent years and relies on imports, more than half of which comes from Canada. Still sure it was Canada that “caved”?

Obviously one hasn’t been reading the facts of how much fentanyl makes its way from Canada to the US but it’s miniscule (0.2%) compared to what goes the other way. But I don’t think one will believe those stats. Maybe Canada needs to stop the flow of all the illegal stuff coming up from the US. It’s significantly higher than the other way around.

Anywho back to horses… despite tariffs being stayed for 30 days… as a Canadian I will still try my best to make sure none of the “horses” I buy will come from the US during this time. And that does include any horse related products. I would like tack stores to clearly mark Canadian made items… or US ones so I can avoid them.

That’s absolutely what’s going on here. It was all pre-planned before he took office. Just look at Project 2025 whose signatures are all over this.

I’ll drop another tip here, because those of you in the US can still find out what’s been happening with your government (for now): if you’re on FB or Instagram (not sure if they’re also on other social media), follow Alt National Parks Service. This is a coalition of federal employees (not only NPS - they just started it) and they are working very hard to resist from the inside. They are posting updates regularly.

A billionaire has literally walked into numerous government agencies, plugged in private servers, sent out internal emails purporting to be from the official government requesting mass resignations, harvested all of your data, disbanded USAID, put government officials on leave, and has control of $6T of Treasury funds.

Both Canada and Mexico have agreed to provide forces to stop illegal immigration and fentanyl. This could have been done years ago.

Both countries simply told Trump about things they already had budgeted and in place or in development. They played him and he fell for it.

Exactly this (except it’s $6T, not B; I know it’s a typo but worth pointing out!). And this is happening while some are high-fiving themselves about a big “win” where they got 10,000 troops from Mexico (already promised) and an utterly meaningless “fentanyl czar” to oversee the 43 pounds that were seized last year. So much winning! So yes, to keep it horse-related, expect far fewer Canadians at horse shows or horse-related events in the near future.

DOGE has requested and is being granted “access to all SBA systems,” per an email sent to Small Business Admin employees today. Edward Coristine, a DOGE employee and unvetted 19 YO college freshman, held a call with SBA staff detailing level of access they wanted, including HR, contract and payment systems.

Every single American should be up in arms over this pillaging, including horse people.

Which reminds me - DOGE is not an official government agency, right? I’m not an expert on US civics but pretty sure the (at the time, not-in-office-yet) president can’t just create a new official agency and “hereby declare” it has authority.

Again, even scarier. Your data, buildings, government employees, and MONEY are all totally unsecured and under the control of a drug-addled egotistic white supremacist and your government is standing back and watching it happen, and in some cases, enabling and encouraging it.

May I suggest you call your state officials and flood them with complaints? I know it’s not much but it’s something.
