This article gave me a laugh! But seriously, what a dedicated and impressive rider (and maybe a little crazy)

Good on him for not giving up, and setting goals. But seriously, a TBI and he still wears a top hat rather than a helmet? People with brains protect them.

I was so sad to see him enter at A in that darn tophat. And I’m a huge WFP admirer.
Just don’t understand why he wore the top hat…his recovery is so remarkable
It only added to his height.
Of course I have no idea why he wore it but maybe he was thinking at the Dressage phase that this would be his last Olympics since his wife wants him to retire, and he wanted the top hat for his swan song. . After the Cross Country I’ve been wondering if he will try again in 2020.
I wish Thibaut had worn his Cadre Noir uniform.
IMO, he was a fabulous rider these past days.
I’m sad he doesn’t feel the need to ride with protection all the time after being in a coma. Any European contributing to his medical bill (even indirectly) should insist that he wear one or write him off for future injuries.
It’s easy.
He said it was part of tradition.
