Wine Tasting at the WEG

The American Trakehner Foundation invites you to a wine tasting, at Spindletop Hall, Lexington, KY on October 2, 2010, featuring wine, hors d’oeuvres, a live auction and a silent auction. Festivities commence at 6 PM, run to 8 PM, followed by a cash bar.

Link to the American Trakehner Foundation website - www.americantrakehnerfoundation.com. Go to the Events tab for more information including a link to the Live Auction Catalog for items to be auctioned. There are other items that are in the Silent Auction!!

$25 if RSVP prior to event and $50 at the door. There will be several special guests in attendance!

While at the website - check out the Raffle of tickets to Neumunster (the Trakehner grading/gala)!!! $50 per ticket gets you a chance to win a trip for two to Germany in 2011 (airfare, car rental, hotel room and tickets to events at NMS)!!! Drawing will be held at the American Trakehner Association’s Convention in Jacksonville FL Nov 11 - 13 this year!

Both the event at the WEG and the Raffle to Neumunster are to raise money to promote the Trakehner horses and their riders in sport as well as education regarding the breed.

Sigh

Would so love to do this but since I just found out my dog is probably going to need surgery, guess that’s not happening.

Interesting. We get back from out of town that day. I’ll talk to my husband about it. We love wine. We are members at Spindletop – maybe we’ll get a discount;)

I’m waiting to hear if there’s any conflict with my ‘duties.’ I would LOVE to go to this.

VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION:

Is there a dress code?

I’m told there often is at that facility.

Going to try and talk hubby into this one!

I hope you all can come - will be great to put some names and faces together!!!

Re dress code: This is a wine tasting in the evening so it is slightly more dressy BUT we also understand that many will be coming directly from the equestrian events. No one will be turned away because of jeans :). I am telling those that ask specifically “dressy casual” and I will be in slacks and a nice top (and if it is cooler a blazer or light weight sweater). Does that help?

The auction items can be bid on in absentia but I have not been told on the logistics of HOW that is going to happen (I should find out soon and will post as soon as I do!). The "silent auction items will also be put up on line in a similar fashion as the live auction items so you will have more details of them as well.

Please feel free to email or PM me with questions! (acottongim @yahoo.com remove space).

Not in my budget but…

Hope to meet as many Trakehner people while you are here as possible!

Hey Holly Jeanne … I’ll be there on Friday around noon until Sun am only. I’ll be at the horse complex for at least part of the day on Sat prior to going to Spindletop. I’m thinking about trying to do the Keenland breakfast thing Sat am (sounds like fun)… could meet for breakfast or lunch or something?

Don’t know my schedule yet

I don’t know my schedule yet and likely won’t until the Thursday before. I’m working as a timer during the cross-country but I don’t yet know whether I’ll be working all day or a 1/2 day shift. Will be having company most likely on Friday and don’t know what she wants to do yet. I’ll send you a PM with my cell #.

Holly Jeanne, I think Anissa was planning to come down our direction Friday night and we were talking about doing dinner in Harrodsburg. If your company didn’t mind you should join us!

I am looking forward to the wine tasting!

Cool!

I bet I can talk my company into that!

YEP!! Dinner with friends and get to see my Ruby (she will be soooooo impressed lol). Sounds like a GREAT plan!

Now Anissa! I told Ruby her other Mom was coming to visit and she seemed SUPER excited!! lol or maybe that’s because I was pouring grain in her bucket?!?

I think it was the grain LOL - or she was just super excited to show me what a GREAT home she has?! Seriously, very excited to see her/you and to “meet” you in person HJ (deb - duh!!! LOL). Will be a fun weekend!!!

Just a reminder to prepurchase reservations (can send a check or can “donate” via PayPal) as it is $25 in advance or $50 at the door.

For those that have asked - you can bid on the auction items in abstentia. http://www.americantrakehnerfoundation.com/Documents/ATF_Catalog_final_version.pdf for the catalog. at the end of the catalog there are instructions on how to bid in abstentia.

Hope to see a lot of y’all there!!!

Hope you’ll take the opportunity to sample some Kentucky wines. There are now 63 licensed wineries in the Bluegrass state.

Are tickets still available? I feel the need to bid on some auction items!

Yes, you can still attend!!! And I’ll get you a special deal.

I will be on the x-country course later this am and at the event this evening. Text me at (I’ll PM you my number) and we’ll come up with a plan.

Help, we are demo’ing at 1730. Are we going to miss the whole thing by the time we get there?

I ASKED if there was a schedule interferance…

If someone really, really wants to go and can’t afford it… email me at pintopiaffe at aol dot com --email me your cell #

It probably would be a better thing for someone to go who can be there for more than five minutes.

I’m actually pretty pissed. This is the ONE thing I was doing for ME. I paid for my host to come because she loves Calvin. I know it’s selfish of me, I adored dressage… but I wouldn’t have sprung for the tickets if I’d known we were riding at 1730. It takes at LEAST an hour to put the horse up, then close to another hour to get out of the park, because she is disabled.

Slap me now, I am being very, very petty and selfish. :frowning:
