Wintec Wide?

Has anybody ridden in the Wintec Wide model? Wondering if this is an option for Dani. The saddle fitter can custom bend the gullets, and they have a flocked version for a bit more flexibility.

I like the regular Wintec Pro, so wondering too how it compares.

I have a Wintec Wide AP and I am quite happy with it. I have had it for well over 10 years and it still looks great. Mine has the CAIR panels and they still are good after my saddle fitter checked it out this summer. My QHx mare is super wide and the Wintec Wide was what fit her well without going fully custom.

The only other Wintec I have ridden in are the Aussie/Stock ones, so I can’t compare my wide AP to the Pro.

Is it the most comfortable saddle ever? Probably not but I find that it suits my needs quite well. I do flatwork, jumping and trails in it. For a saddle that is as wide as it is, I find that the twist in it is good and doesn’t make you feel like you’re riding a picnic table.

The Wintec wide that I am familiar with is a dressage model, but not the newest model. It made riding my instructor’s shire cross possible. In other saddles this mare was a hip-splitter, but with the WW, she was much more comfortable - like a sofa with legs. We also used it on a table-backed pony mare who had previously developed a sore back due to poor saddle fit. She went well in it. At the time, the Pro seemed to have more cushion (for the rider), but those were the models that came before the latest ones.

I just bought a Wintec, I love that I can adjust it to fit my wide WB.
I find it comfortable to ride in and you can’t beat the price. I tried numerous saddles and the Wintec fit my horse the best.

I am looking at purchasing the Wintec Wide AP as well. I currently have a Wintec 2000 but even as an extra large it is not big enough. The price is good, they are durable and comfortable…I am just buying it as my “back up saddle” so I don’t need anything fancy.

I used to have a Wintec Wide AP.

The padding in the knee rolls added over 2-3 inches of extra width between my knees, I felt like I was trying to do splits when I rode since I was riding horses using the widest gullet plate. Except for this I would have liked the saddle, but my legs were never happy and it affected my security in the saddle which the horses did not appreciate.

I rode a client’s paint in a Bates Wide Dressage a few times, I really liked it! It looks like it’d be a little flatter and kinda over all less saddle than I usually ride in, I don’t think she even has blocks in it, but it was plenty secure and comfortable, and very well balanced! I haven’t ridden in the Pro to compare, but I’ve ridden in the Isabell’s, and while the seat is a different shape/depth, all the Bates/Wintec saddles are SO well balanced, I’m a big fan!
