Winter Breeches - need recommendations

I have 3 pairs of Kerrits full-seat Sit Tight-n-Warm winter breeches that I love, but would like to buy some non-full seat winter breeches as well. Any recommendations?

Looking for:
-knee patch
-preferrable non-Euro seat
-flattering
-warm
-not slippery in the saddle

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I really like the Tuffrider soft shell wide waistband breeches. Very cute and comfortable. They do have a euroseat, but I think otherwise fit your criteria. The fleece breeches from Tuffrider are awful though - they pill like crazy, not at all like the soft shell that wash up great.

I have a couple pairs of Smartpak Bradley soft shell breeches that are great for cold weather! I have already started wearing them and it isn’t truly winter yet…
They are lined with fleece. (not sure if the desciption of them says…but they are!) Last winter when it got below 20 I was wearing long johns under for added warmth, but when its in the 20-40 degree range they are perfect…for me atleast!!

I like Tropical Rider Toasties. They come in full seat, extended patch, knee and no patch. They have a wide waist band and are very comfortable. They also have Toasties Elements which have wind block in the fabric.

I picked up a pair of the Rider winter breeches at the Dover tent sale a few years back, and found them to be fairly comparable to the Kerrits–not quite the quality, but not quite the price, either, and plenty warm.

Any reason to not just get the Sit Tight-n-Warm in the knee patch version?:

Agree with Pony ^
I have both FS and KP sit tight and warms and they are by far my favorite winter breeches.

(Ovations are too thin and the fabric pills)
(tuff rider fabric also pills and they fit funny)

I have a friend who swears by Tropical Toasties, but I haven’t tried them yet. But Kerrits ST&W are the best I’ve ever owned. I now have 4 pairs and won’t bother buying anything else.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I just ordered a pair of the new Kerrits Fleece Flow Rise Performance Tights from Smartpak. They were a like cheaper than the KP Sit Tights and I’m intrigued by the “herringbone texture” description.

I also just returned a pair of Ariat Artemis winter breeches. Their Medium size is much smaller than Kerrits & I didn’t think they were thick enough for 30’ and colder temps.

I’m always cold so this is my area of expertise

I just purchased some Kerrits crossover winter knee patch breeches and am very pleased with them. They are warm, comfortable, and well tailored. The fabric and styling is much less casual than there other styles–I wouldn’t hesitate to show in these during colder weather. They were hard to find and I can’t understand why Dover and Smartpak don’t sell them.

I also have been eyeing the FITS Kate or Beka winter breeches, and if they had come in tan I would have purchased a pair. (I specifically needed a tan pair.) I have the old style FITS winter breeches and they are wonderful, so I have confidence that FITS can make a great winter breech.

The Tropical Rider Toasties are very warm and plush and comfortable and well made, but the tailoring is very simple. I like them for super cold weather since they are quite warm. They are slightly less flattering than my other pairs of winter breeches but I’m sure glad I have them when the temps drop.

The Iridion wind pro winter breeches are also very nice and they seem to pop up on sale quite a bit. They are true winter breeches, but not as warm as the Tropical Riders or the FITS.

I looked at the Kerrits flow rise fleece breeches in a local shop, but they seemed to be thinner material than a typical winter breech, they didn’t strike me as a true winter breech, more of a spring/fall weight. If you returned the Ariat Artemis tights, you might not be satisfied with those. The Kerrits crossover winter breech is a heavier fabric for sure.
