winter full seat reccomendations?

So, I have tried the Kerrits sit tight 'n warm and found them rather too sticky.

I’ve tried the Iridion Wind pro’s and found them too low rise and lacking
in stretch (really, I don’t want a cold gap in back every time I bend down!)

I’ve tried the Gersemis, liked them a lot but they were REALLY expensive and the full seats are disintegrating after 2 very careful, babied winters.

It gets really cold here. I’d like a pair of well fitting, not low rise, stretchy and comfy warm full seat breeches that do not collect hay and shavings. I would prefer not black as they get so filthy so quickly. I will pay a sensible sum for this item, but would obviously love to find some on sale!

What do we all recommend?

The “extended patch” ones really do come up under your seat – just not back through your butt.
They are comfy and warm and often go on sale this time of year

Thanks! I’ve never tried these… it’s not clear to me what the difference/advantage of one fabric over the other would be. Do you know?

I have both the Windpro breeches and the Powerstretch tights in the Kerrits. The breeches are a bit sticky and the tights are much more subtle. The tights aren’t as warm.

If Equissentials is still around, their deerskin winter breeches (full seat) are quite warm and not as sticky as the Kerrits. (which I love in spite of the overly stickiness).

I have two pairs of these Pikeurs soft shell winter breeches. They are water resistant, wind resistant and fleece lined. They are the BEST winter breeches I have…I have tried the Irideon and Kerrits as well and do not like them nearly as much. I have had my Pikeurs for about 4 years, wearing them about 4X/ week during our 3-4 months of winter weather. They are SUPER easy to keep clean due to the soft shell fabric just wipes clean. Wish my show breeches were as easy:) I bought both my pairs overseas as the prices are much better.

Have you tried anything from Horze? It doesn’t get cold enough here to wear honest-to-god winter breeches, but I have a pair of the Grand Prix full seats that are pretty darn warm & also stay dry in the rain. They’re the same technical fabric as some of the Pikeurs, but much cheaper. I always figure that being Scandinavian they must know a lot about cold weather gear.

I second this. I bought mine when they were 1/2 off and they are warm and comfy, without being bulkym

I also love the Tropical Rider’s! I just got a pair recently, so I can’t say how they will hold up over time (though I had a pair years ago, not the winter ones, and they held up beautifully), but so far I love them! I just got the Clarino seat and I like the grip on them. I don’t know how the lambskin are, but I had the deerskin ones before, and I honestly thought they were too sticky, but I hate that “glued to the saddle feeling.”

I got a pair of the FITS Treads WindPro and love them. Very stretchy, not super sticky like deerskin, and look like they will be easy to keep clean. Super comfy!

Second this! Toasties with the Clarino. Mine are going on season three, machine wash and hang dry.

I have the lamb skin TRs and I love them- sticky enough and hold up beautifully, machine wash and hang dry.

Another vote for TR Toasties! I have the lambskin.

I agree. I have 3 pairs - all bought from calevo. I wash them weekly - they still look brand new after 3 seasons. I’ve had tropical riders and Irideon (sp?) in the past.

And yet another TR fan. Toasties w/Deerskin extended patch.
They last forever: oldest pair is 8 years and still going strong. Newest pair is 2 years old and look brand new.

I will add another vote for the Tropical Rider Toasties. I just have the clarino full seat patches and they do fine. I prefer the full seat patches in the winter as maybe they will give just that tiny bit more stick to it ness in case of horsey frolicking. I always order the low rise because a friend who had told me about them said the regular rise is very high( almost under the boobs). I find the low rise to come right to my waist. The Toasties Elements have a wind block fabric that is nice. I get the extended patch on all my summer riding tights and they work well and don’t make me feel like I have soggy diaper butt in the hot humid summers here.

Tropical Rider Toasties Clarino full seat. Luv them !!!
