Winter tall boots?

I am looking for something that doesn’t seem to exist anymore - I wanted to buy the fleece-lined laceup Tredsteps that came out last year, but they are discontinued and sold out. Does anyone have ideas about alternatives? I really would like them to be lined with faux (or real) fleece as that’s what my feet seem to stay warmest in. We are having a coldsnap here and my toes were frozen by horse #3 last night!

Can you buy a size up and put in fleece socks?

Mountain horse has a few different fleece/sherpa options. I’ve always thought their snowy river boots looked pretty stylish and both pairs of boots I’ve bought from them have held up fantastically.

They’re not fleece lined, but I have Ariat Bromonts and they’re pretty toasty. They also look nice and have held up well for several winters now.

I also know people who live the Ariat Conistons…those are linked with Goretex and Thinsulate, so should also be plenty warm and waterproof.

Not fleece lined, but have thinsulate - Ariat Coniston Pro all the way. They aren’t tall boots per say, more so fancy muck boots that double as riding boots (which I like as then I’m not switching between boots in the freezing cold). They lace up the front but also have a zip up the back. Keep me warm and are waterproof.

I bought a pair of the Mountain Horse Snowy River boots last winter, and they were worth every penny. Very warm waterproof and comfortable, both for riding and working around the barn, and are still in excellent condition. I like them much better than the Mountain Horse Ice Riders I’ve had in the past, which started to crack after 1 season. Ariat Bromont’s are also great boots, and the ones I had lasted several years.

There are a bunch like these on Stateline. Don’t know if that is what you’re looking for though?

You could also try Dover:

And Ariat has a few:

Another for the Ariat Consintons! Definitely not as sleek as tall boots and I have to drop my stirrups a hole or two for the winter, but definitely keep the toes warm. Depending on your budget, I believe Celeris makes shearling lined tall boots as well.

I have better luck using toe warmers in the winter. I wear normal boot socks with fleece lined breeches and put toe warmers on top of my toes before putting my feet in the boots (stick them directly to your foot but on top of your toes, putting them in your boot so they’re under your foot feels weird with your foot in the stirrup). Works great. I have a pair of schooling tall boots that are a half size bigger in the foot to give me room to trap the warm air, but they’re not winter specific boots.

My feet are too big for all of the “women’s” winter riding boots. And the men’s have been hard to come by this year. So I ordered a pair of faux fur lined Doc Martin’s “Chelsea “ boot. I considered the winter lined Ariats, but my feet are not happy with the regular terrains.

I have some Ariat Bromonts that have done a great job. I think they have thinsulate in them. Now that I live in the South, I need to sell them. Do you have some small feet on you? A 37?

Oh man, I’m a 38… So close but so far.

My real issue is tiny feet and ankles, but I-used-to-run-35-mi-a-week calves, so I’m running into boots that won’t zip up over a 16.5 calf. Anyone tried Oviation Moorland boots? They have more stretch panels.

I use the Ariat Bromonts which have a pretty hearty Thinsulate lining, and then I put Hot Hands insole foot warmers in too (the kind that covers the whole length of your foot). With a pair of merino wool socks - I like the Tredstep ones - I am good to go. I am always cold and have frostbite damange on my toes but this system works even in 15 degree weather.

I also know a lot of foxhunters buy their boots a size up so they can wear super thick socks. I actually usually wear a slim calf, but my winter boots are a regular calf so I have room for thick fleecy breeches. They still look very flattering and appropriate. In retrospect, if I could go back I’d buy a half size up in the foot too.

And if you love fleece I’ve seen sheepskin/shearling insoles floating around that you could pop into the boots, LL Bean has some nice looking ones for $30.

I just saw a pair of real sheepskin lined boots and told Mr. Justice that’s what I want for Christmas! Kingsley makes them, I’m getting pretty plain dress boots in waterproof leather with real sheepskin lining. They are spendy, depending how macked out you want them but my friend got hers in a month, the fit was perfect and they look so much better than the lace up Artist’s I usually do in the winter. Pm me if you want the rep’s #, they do zoom measuring consultations

Update: I ordered a pair of HKM Winter Dublin boots, which was special order as no US retailer routinely carries them. It worked out to approximately $210 + $40 for shipping, and I am thrilled with the warmth and comfort!
