Wolf teeth: in or out?

I have a 12 year old mare who I am completely at a loss with, she suffers from a split mouth paticularly on one side due to her leaning and just generally being strong. We had the dentist look at her teeth and he said that they are slightly wobbly. Is it worth getting them out now and seeing if that makes any difference or shall we just go to changing bits and carrying on?

Thanks!

Out. Don’t they interfere with all bits? That’s what I’ve always been told. All mine have had their wolf teeth removed before I bought them.

I would have the wolf teeth out, because she is not working out the way she is now. We always have the wolf teeth out on the horses, and yes the mares get them just like the boys. One less excuse for horse to be acting poorly when using them.

They are something I never bothered with, and never noticed the difference.

Out and since they wobble they likely hurt and should come out easy.

Wolf teeth normally fall out by age 7… some fall out at age 3. A 12 year old mare would not still have them to be causing your issues

OUT !

My rescue pony who wasn’t abused just never messed with AT ALL in her eight years before me had her wolf tooth – she had only one – taken out the other day as a matter of course. I figure that’s one less thing given her pony attitude to possibly be a problem when she has to go to work later this year. It is a bigger deal at that age, the ED explained, because by then they’ve fused with the jaw so there’s a little more healing. But his advice was to wait a week before I put a bit in her mouth. That’s all.

Wolf teeth= out!
But don’t confuse them with canine teeth. Most mares don’t have canines but some do- mine does. Those are usually left in, but they do mean that I need to be sure her bit hangs correctly- too low and it bothers those canines.

wolf teeth out! especially if they’re a bit loose.
