Womanly-sized riders, unite!

Bingo, Blunnies are one of my pairs of jod boots. T’others are Ariat shoes, not really high enough to be a paddock boot. The breeches that are actually LONG enough to wear with the blunnies or the ariats are Royal Highness mens in a 36 waist. I take Kerrits tights and bootcuts in Xlarge but their breeches Do Not Fit.

OKeahy’s tights fit but their breeches dont. On Course Shapelys breeches fit but are a mile too short, so much that I dont think their longs would do it. On Course’s tights, on the other hand, are too long in the leg, and almost too short in the rise. Makes no damn sense. And dont get me started on the breeches everyone seems to make that fit perfectly but are low rise to the point where the crack of my ample ass is flapping in the breeze.

Muscles I Had Forgotten Existed

So I had my first ride since the early 90’s on Saturday. Wowsers, what a workout. I weigh in at 233pds or 105kg for those of us in metric. I had the most full on work out of my life. LOL. I’m going to be fit before I know it. I ache all over the place but I did find some great boots. They are Cavallino Yard Boots and I got them in size 41 and I can slip them on and off no problem, a first for me, as I have puffy feet and a really high arch. I was beyond stoked to find them and they are black and in a really nice soft leather. Now onto jodphurs/breeches. I have a 42 waist so I’m thinking it may have to wait until I lose a couple of kgs.

The JMS line has lighter weight vests in black and chocolate for $15. Cuddle Duds are great if you haven’t tried them.

I think I have finally gotten all my womanly sized attire together to try foxhunting this season. I’m still a bit up in the air about boots, but purchased a pair of black paddock boots and a pair of Iberian plus size half chaps( from Arete up to 5xl)fornow. got an Ovation jacket in black from The English Habit. They had coats up to size 28. I also got a lovely riding shirt from Maryland Saddlery in a cool max type material with a subtle design on it. They had rat catchers up to size 50(great for us ladies with well endowed figures)I purchased full seat breeches in light tan from Dover Saddlery-Cotton Naturals (they go up to size 40) and are reasonably priced. A lady from the riding club I belong to makes beautiful stock ties and I purchased one from her. I am so excited!

Just so you know, Equestrian Collections has some lovely Ovation coats on their outlet page. I bought one this weekend at the show (not from them, not on sale) and it fit like a glove. Went around the girls and the shoulders and everything! Anyhow, I ordered another in a different color when I got home becuase for $40, I couldn’t NOT order!

Now to figure out how to tell DH I bought two coats this week.

Sounds beautiful!! Have an awesome time hunting!!

Simbalism, does The English Habit have a website?

Vespar Sparrow, Yes they do have a website as does the Maryland Saddlery. They have even sent me several 10% off coupons(the English Habit). Everyequine, I am scheduled to do my first hunt this coming weekend. I’m very excited.

I have purchased a hunt coat from Maryland Saddlery. Marvelous folks to work with. They want your measurements so be prepared. Wellington coat is nicely made and fit without a lot of shipping back and forth.

Thanks, Simbalism! Maryland Saddlery looks great. Hope to be investing in a canary vest next year :D.
I still can’t find the website for The English Habit. I must be an idiot… Scratch that, I found it!

Tack of the Day has ProChaps half chaps today. These are without a doubt the nicest (most flattering, best made–by a bunch of nice folks in Canada, and best-fitting) half chaps I’ve ever owned. Very stretchy and accommodating and don’t stretch out and slide down. They run big. Tons of sizes.

They have the fringey ones, but if that’s not your thing you could easily snip the fringe off.

Winter Breeches Needed

Do any of you know where to find some good Polartec or other breeches/riding tights? My 3-year-old Millers’ ones were barely decent last year; now they’re worn so thin I’m worried they’ll split.

I’ve seen plenty in Dover catalogues, etc., but they don’t run to the larger sizes, and besides that they cost a small fortune.

Any suggestions appreciated! Otherwise I’ve got to go find some long johns the same color as my tights in order to be able to ride in public in them!

Tropical Rider Toasties.

Or the custom winter ones from Equissentials.

2nd the Toasties! They are the best and fit pretty well. Loved the Irideon winter ones (cant remember the style name) but the patches on calf area blew out after one or 2 seasons. So I say toasties.

So… smart pak improved their smart slims- I got a new pair to try and they are 100x more comfortable- the fabric is a bit softer, they improved the ankles tremendously- they got rid of the elastic at the ankle and did a softer finsih that still stays put, and the rise is a good rise for me- not too high, but not low rider either. Definitely gave me some good compression under breeches- looking forward to using them this winter.

Ariat Fleece-Lined Breeches on TOTD!!

I’m happy to finally be able to contribute something to this thread, after reading it for so long!

Just ordered myself some Ariat Powerstretch Winter Full Seats for $64.50 and free shipping! These have the nice fleece lining, but aren’t too bulky.

They’ve got up to XXL which is a size 38.

I’ve not seen these in person, but I read some reviews and they sound very nice. This is my first time ordering off of TOTD, so I’m hoping all goes well and that I love the breeches!

I just ordered the breeches from TOTD too. Had to get the XLs (which are a 32-34 they claim. I wear 34s in other breeches so I’m crossing my fingers they fit. At least they’re stretchy?). First TOTD order and I’m going to be on pins and needles till they get here but I don’t have any winter breeches so these seemed like a good buy.

EDIT: the larges are the 32-34, xls are 36.

So, uh…they might be too big for me. Oops? I think I did that because I have this feeling Ariat stuff typically runs small?

analise yes ariat runs small even thier boots.

I won a pair of toasties on ebay and am anxiously awaiting thier arrival!
