As well as pullers, shake baby powder into them
if the inside of the boots is smooth, try spraying or wiping with Show Sheen.
A trick we use at tack swaps is to have plastic bread bags
(the sort of plastic bag bread is sold in) around. We have
folks trying on boots put the plastic bag over their socks
so they can slip the boots off again without too much
trouble.
Husband suggests you can buy a “right angle screw driver”
at a hardware store if you cannot get hold of boot pulls
easily. Not quite as good as boot pulls, but should work.

Two thumbs up for “Fuller Fillies” tall standard wide riding boots! I Finally got to try them on this week, and rode THREE times in them already! WHOA! I can FEEL the girth when I am riding! But, they are also slick like I just showsheened my horse’s sides, so now my lower leg feels looser. Overall, I am really impressed with this tall boot - it is the first tall boot I’ve been able to wear in about 10 years!!! I definitely plan on riding ALOT in these boots!
Thanks to everyone who posts great info on this thread & board - I’ve been able to learn SO much & find better tools & products for my horses & I!

Yay! I can’t wait until I can afford some.
have any of you tried these Ariat half chaps? The highest size chart says up to 17.5 inches…but im wondering if they would stretch another .5-1inch or so.

Schooling Shirts & Fuller Fillies boots
First, wondering if anyone has suggestions for somewhat fitted schooling shirts (so the instructor can actually see what you’re doing with your body) that are a) not horrific looking if you are not very slim b) fit over boobs well and c) work, when off the horse, to somewhat cover the area to the, um, ‘rear’, which I always feel is a little exposed when wearing breeches or riding tights. (I mean, they’re perfectly opaque and don’t show anything - unlike the weird tights-for-leggings fashion trend - but they do fit very snugly. I kind of want to carry around a flannel shirt or something to tie around my waist as soon as I hop off the horse.
)
Second - just curious how people are finding the Fuller Fillies boots are holding up, now that they’ve been around for a little bit.

I had an earlier version. They stretched like crazy, particularly at the tops, to the point where they’d slide down a bit. They also bled color onto my breeches. I wouldn’t get them again. I’ve been really pleased with the ProChaps. They stretch to accommodate tights or winter breeches, but don’t stretch out. Tons of height and width combinations, too.
Which tall boot from FF? thanks!

There’s a field and dress variety:

I’m not too bothered which model, I was just wondering about the leather and design and construction quality. I have darn short wide legs, so I like to keep an eye on what the options are like.
I have the field boots… I’ve been very happy with them, but I’ve only used them at a couple shows… so I’ve no idea how they wear.
all righty girls, give me some advice here. Now that horse.com is carrying fuller fillies AND have 5.95 shipping for the next few days, I am tempted to get either a pair of breeches or jodphurs. I’d like the breeches, but I ride in paddock boots and almost all breeches are waaaaay too short. How are the FF breeches for length? I want them suckers to hit my ankle bone, at least.
I am not overly tall (5’6-5’7) and they hit my ankle nicely - room to spare to tuck into paddock boots (I wear half chaps anyhow). You WILL love the quality-I have the plaid full-seats, and they just go into the wash and I hang them to dry. They still look like new! I just need to sew on a velcro that came unstitched at the ankle after many wearings.
I also saw the Proesse full seats - also VERY nice looking!
Dee
PS - I DO think you can get them in a longer length too!
Thanks! I’m a bit over 5’7" and cant stand it when the socks go down and the breeches ride up. I’ll do half chaps some in the winter here, but forget them in the summer.

Hi Jeano,
I thought about your question when I rode last night - they tuck very nicely into my paddock boots. Hope that helps!

Maybe I can have a look at them sometime when I get myself up there, if I haven’t see any in a local tack shop by then. (I am determined to have a ride on the sofa pony at the very least. )
I’m just one of those annoying picky people about construction quality - if I’m paying a decent amount of money for something, it shouldn’t fall apart in regular use right away, you know? When my ~$30 cheap fashion boots that I only expected to last one season of wear are holding up better than some people’s high-end high-price boots, there’s something wrong.
(Admittedly, I do not ride in said boots, but I do wear them quite a lot during the winter, and they get salt soaked in and beaten up and battered - and then there’s folks whose basically brand new expensive riding boots become unwearable because the zipper breaks after three rides or something. That’s just absurd.)
The quality seems really good on the FF boots… I’d expect them to hold up very well… but yeah, you can check them out when you’re here
MY FF boots have held up well for six months of use in shows, lessons and some schooling and I’m very happy with them. My only complaint is that one does come unzipped when I ride-easily remedied by a piece of electrical tape. They clean up nicely though the ribbed section does take a little extra elbow grease. They have dropped a good bit-I’m glad I ordered the taller ones even though my actual measurement was in the shorter ones’ range. But there was almost no break-in and they are super comfortable-I have super small, wide feet and the bed is roomy but is my actual size. Most boots aren’t wide enough in the wide unless they are several sizes too big.
Not to enable, but…
My brown field boots arrived from Hispar yesterday.
OMGiH I love them.
Are they Petries or Dehners? No. Am I complaining that they are not? No. They were $260 including the shipping, and I could have taken them to bed with me.
I have wanted brown field boots for 34,904,789,893 years. Glad I finally have them.
My dad just had one heart surgery Wednesday and has another tomorrow, so I am having to spend too much of the coming two months not riding and instead helping out my parents, but I shall blow kisses to my new brown boots on the days I can’t ride.
Got mine on eBay. Two weeks from the day I ordered until they arrived; they came from Pakistan via Dubai on DHL. I wish I had come via Dubai on DHL.
Mud season problem
OK, winter is thawing up here on the northern US border and
the melting snow and ice are having their inevitable result
leading to significant mud. My problem is finding rubber
boots that come high enough to get through the mud. Right
now I am wearing knee boots bought at a local farm store.
These are children’s size 5. My feet are very short but are
also very wide (I’m sure I am a reincarnated shetland pony).
The two problems are that I have to slit the back of the boots
to get them over my calf and I still have to use pliers to pull
them on. They are also giving me a rash on the back of my
legs just behind the knee.
I really need boots that have some sort of gusset or other
arrangement to fit a wide calf. Also that don’t come up
too high. You know those charts for half chaps with a
height and calf measurement. The section that is blank is
the part that would fit me; a 14 inch height and an 18 inch
calf. And being a barn manager with the usual income for
such work, I need to find boots that are around $25 a pair.
Anybody have a suggestion?
My issue is with breeches. Long just doesn’t fit long on me. I have a 32 inch inseam so long breaches hit me at tea length (if it was a skirt). Also, why do women’s sizes mean that the rise in the breeches is so long that I can belt my breeches up under my bra? I’ve just ordered some 36L low rise breaches from HorseloverZ. I’ll tell you how it goes.
