Womanly-sized riders, unite!

I order from the states, they are one of my favourite stores, shipping is usually reasonably priced and it gets here in good time.

I found that though the breeches are generous size, the fleece tops are small in sizing, but boy to they keep you warm

Hey gals,

So, in an effort to be a little less “womanly sized” I have caused myself a dilemma. My almost new Rodney Powell body protector, is now far too large for me. It was custom made for me, I’m somewhat short waisted, medium bust and at the time, little to no waist. I was wearing a size 22 pants and a 2x top. Is there anyone out there that would buy a used but somewhat custom vest like that? Don’t know if I should try to sell it along or just bite the bullet and buy a second vest? What would you girls do?

I’m in a similar situation, having lost a lot of weight. The manufacturer of my vest offered to custom tailor it down to my new size (I think they change the panels around) for about 1/4 or less of its original cost. You could enquire with your manufacturer about this.

Weight Watchers

Okay; I am having trouble getting off my horse due to my out-of-shapeness and weight. I keep kicking her on the croup as I dismount. That is pathetic. I would like to lose about 50 lbs, which sounds overwhelming but the alternative is worse. I’ve just started the couch to 5k running plan and Weight Watchers. Would anyone be interested in joining up for some moral support along the way?

I bought a pair of FF lush jods (corduroy fabric) and while there are so many things wrong with them as riding pants they fit me the best of any of their line. LOL! I love the weight of the fabric and was wondering who else might make corduroy breeches in a 36 or larger. Got any leads?

Dover has these breeches on clearance right now for $30. They go up to size 40. I have several pairs of the side zip version and like them a lot.

VTO sells up to 42? I think? Last time I looked though, they were all out of 36’s…which of course, fit me the best. I like theirs because they are cut fuller thru the crotch. Can’t stand low-rise and these fit me just right at the waist. Price is right too!

They used to have lots of nice colors, but now the 38-42 only come in beige or black. I understand they were looking for a new manufacturer last year and had gotten lower in inventory on some colors and sizes.

Any suggestions for tall winter riding boots that will fit an 18" calf? I desperately want a pair of boots that are warm and waterproof and will still fit in stirrups!

I just want them for trail riding so I don’t even care what they look like or even if they are actual tall boots, just tall enough so that when I walk through the deep snow they don’t fill with snow!!

I’ve been wearing my blundstones with extra wool socks and they are fine until about -10C, but much colder and my toes hurt from the cold, plus they are just too short!!

New favorite breeches…

I just got a pair of the Irideon Cadence full-seats for Christmas (in black, of course), and I love them. I have the Fuller Fillies Check Mate breeches, and I like them, too, but not as much as the Irideons. The Irideon’s seat is a bit stickier (without being), and the compression is fabulous. Definitely recommend!

A thumbs up here for Brit Colts, the riding boot by Muck Boots. I was given a pair, find them very warm and they stretch forever. I have huge calves at the best of times, and these babies stretch right on over them, even when my knee is knee is leaking fluid and the calf is even bigger than normal:confused:

Oh Haffy, don’t even get me started on knees. I can’t even begin to put weight on my leg until 10 Feb or drive until at least the end of April. Stupid ass knees, Frankenknees, bad knees - knees suck!!!

Horse will be able to go back to work Friday after eight months of hoof growing out. Maybe I can get on my friend’s little paint mare in SEPTEMBER.

I admit it… I might have a little bit of a shoe problem. And BOOTS are shoes, so I guess I have a little bit of a boot problem too. There, I said it.

I wasn’t looking for another pair of boots, but I saw these on eBay, and was intrigued by the style (the zipper, really), and now I’m wondering if anyone has them, what they think of them, and if they’d feed my need for a little something different while still being a good value.

(I’ve had hispar boots before, and they were fine - girls with enormous calves can’t be too picky AND have more than one pair of boots. I’m just wondering about this curvy zipper business)

Since you like Irideons, go to Big Dee’s… they have the tights on sale!

Wow. $199 and free shipping for boots that would go over my calves? I wish you hadn’t linked to that.

Dublin River boots?

OK, I tried searching but this is a big thread! Does anyone have the Dublin River boots? How is the calf in those? Do you ride in them too?

Thanks!

They are only $199 for the normal calf sizes. Xwide and XXwide are $240. Still not bad for the price. The side zips seem to be trendy now.

I’ve been wearing nothing but Irideon Cadence breeches for years now in 2X. They wear like iron, although the seats on a couple of pair are finally wearing out.

I got a great deal on a pair of Irideon Windpros at the end of last season from Adams Horse Supply. They are also in 2x, and while not as stretchy as the Cadence they do stretch enough to be very comfortable, especially in the waist. They are very warm, even when standing around in 10* cold watching someone else ride.

Lightweight Vests

Does anyone know who carries nice lightweight vests to wear at schooling shows (dressage) ?

I would be interested in finding out how tall they are. I am short, and fat and had given up on anything but custom which I was quoted as minimum $1500

Thanks, Chocomare…I think…lol.

Glad to hear about the Cadence durability

Regarding lightweight vests, try LL Bean. The LL Bean fitness vest looks nice, and the Windstopper fleece is my favorite (I don’t have the vest but do have the jacket). It is absolutely windproof, very lightweight, and warm without any bulk.
