Coreen, I am sorry to hear about your dad. My thoughts are with you. Glad to hear that you are physically healing. It’s always slower than we want but be wise and do as you’re told.
so sorry for the loss of your dad Coreene.
Hello all! This is my first post here, and I’m looking for some information on half chaps. I have just started taking lessons again and am going with English discipline. I took a couple summers camps worth of lessons when I was younger, but nothing really formal. I’m very new to the horse world, however my trainer suggested that my two basics be paddock boots and some half chaps. I have ordered some boots I like, however am frustrated with the half chaps (as it appears is normal for our build). I am a 12 1/2 height and 19" calf…I have NEVER had small calves even when I was a size 5 in HS…I have ordered the Fuller Fillies Leather Huggy Half Chaps half chaps from smartpak due to their free returns…however am not optimistic about them fitting. Any suggestions from anyone on the subject? I cannot find a good retailer in my area where I could go try on ANY half chaps…much less something for my calf size. Thanks!
SALE ALERT: Vest up to 2X at Chicks for $25! http://www.chicksaddlery.com/page/CDS/PROD/OUTBACK/PR2028
I have the sparkle half chaps from Fuller fillies which are the same as the huggy ones. I really like them. I have a 17.75 +/- calf and have the standard size and they fit fine. So if you get the bigger ones, I believe they go to 20". I don’t think you will have a problem.

Welcome to COTH and to riding! You’ll find tons of great ideas here.
sfa2010, the FF should fit the width of your calf, but if your calf height is 12 1/2 nothing off the rack is going to fit you. See if there is a local person who does leather work who can custom make a set for you.
Good luck!
Does anyone know if there is a paddock boot in D width? I can’t seem to find any, and I am having difficulty looking for something similar with a riding-safe heel.
Summer wear…
Yesterday was beautiful and warm, and I was at the first testing of the year…I think we did OK, but oh dear, talk about wardrobe dramas…I have a lot of work to do to fit comfortably into my show clothes, :o
It got me thinking as to warm weather options, any ideas for lightweight, light color breeches to keep me cool and will also look decent?
Show shirts, being super blessed in the bust dept, even when the girls are safely restrained in their Ennel bra, I still actually struggled to get my show shirt buttoned, who does shirts with plenty of room for those of us with knockersaplenty?
Chronicle connection shout out!
There were a couple of nice mentions of this thread in the plus size clothing article in the April edition of Chronicle Connections. I especially loved seeing that Smartpak browsed this thread looking for ideas! It is a nice feeling to be able to show companies that there really is a market and see it materialize in the form of more and better clothing options.
Nice job ladies!
I have wide feet too, and I just buy men’s paddock boots.

Ariat men’s 10.5 paddock fits my wide size 11-12 foot perfectly. Not feminine but very functional and well fitting.
How does the sizing work? Like I am an 8.5 wide in women’s. What’s that in a men’s? Thanks!
I just go 1 1/2 to 2 sizes down to get the equivalent men’s size, so a 6.5 or a 7 should work for you.
With my wider feet I like Ariats round toe boots (seems like they are identified as RT)
Men’s footwear’s “average” width is D; women’s is B.
Well ladies, I wouldnt get your hopes up about the Bradley FS breeches from Smartpak. I just got mine in the mail today and I would LOVE them except theres no way they will fit. And its NOT the waist - its the calf! Theres some stretch but not a lot and theres no way they were going up where they needed to be over my calves. I have 17.5-17.75" calves so if yours are smaller, then maybe they will work for you. Really a shame because I really like how they are designed and the fabric used, etc. But I wouldnt recommend them for us womanly sized girls.

THAT is really disappointing. I was just getting ready to add them to my regular order, but I have a small waist in comparison to everything else - the calf thing would be a definite showstopper.
I am the same thing - my waist is like a 34-36" but my hips and thighs are very curvy and of course big calves. I was really let down because they are REALLY well designed in the aspect of material, little details, craftmanship, etc.
Krazy- same here. I tried them and couldn’t even get them up over the calf. Bummer as they appear to be nice.
