Womanly-sized riders, unite!

Hey ladies, this vest just arrived at my house ( I got it on closeout for slightly less but still a good price here) and it’s divine. The XXL I would say fits like a size 18-20. I had it on over multiple layers and it was still roomy enough (not too baggy, but not tight either!)

I am waiting for them to come out so I can try them on. The fuller fillies are WAY too long on me and not forgiving at all. The Ariat 36R is tight and pushing it, but I suppose I could make them work but will be self conscious the entire time I have them on…

How do the new smartpak breeches fit? Are they comparable to ariat or TS? How is the calf area? I know TS and trainer’s choice can’t even get over my calves. I’m holding out hope that these might fit me!

The Collections Breeches

Does anyone know how the Equine Couture Champion Side breeches from the collections fit? I emailed Robin and she didn’t give me too detailed of a response. They come in a size 38 and 40 so I am tempted to order but they aren’t returnable.

I ordered a pair of the SP breeches last year. It was kind of a PITA… two incorrect pairs were sent first. But anyways… I found the fit to be bizarre.

Baggy in the waist (bigger than the measurement ordered) and tight in the calf. And while I usually like low rise since I am short waisted and most low rises sit as a “normal” rise on me… these are REALLY low rise.

SP was nice about exchanging/reordering which was nice… but time was a factor as I was buying them for a show. SP has since seriously disappointed me so I’m not shopping there anymore. Probably at some point I’ll try the custom order breeches from Dover as I love rust.

I’m curious what ones you ordered. I thought the ones mentioned by Coreene had not even been released yet.

I ordered the custom riding apparel as I needed a size 38 for show. Love them!!!

I ordered a pair in 38 before when they were regular price so I was able to return them. I was not a fan. Most of my issue is around my belly…I am shaped like an apple with pretty normal rear and legs (at least I think they are!). I found the legs to be quite snug and the fabric was not so forgiving and showed all my not so nice lumps and bumps  I’m not convinced if I went up a size if it would help.

Good to know. I am thicker in the leg and hip area and need something that has a womanly figure in mind, not a stick figure. Sounds like those aren’t an option for me.

I tried on a pair of custom riding gear at Smartpak when there was a pair in the clearance area and the waist was huge and the fabric wasn’t all that forgiving.

Anyone know anything about the Fits Beka Breech? The ab slimming panel is quite enticing but I am not sure of the sizing.

I am curious too… the website says the new smartpak breeches won’t be in stock until 3/22. I was hoping to have the show breeches situation figured out by then.

SmartPak’s own label breeches are DIVINE!!! I tested them last fall, before I dislocated my knee. SUPER, LOVE THEM![/QUOTE]

Sweet. Didn’t know they had their own line until the other day when I was window shopping. Very excited to see that they are carrying plus sizes. How’s the knee?

Sorry I must have missed something when I read the post about the SP breeches. I ordered the custom order ones from SP… the ones where you can have different pocket trim, etc.

Yep.

Ovation Celebrity Slim Secret anyone??

Has anyone worn these?

Curious as to fit and such. Thanks

Thanks!

Thanks on the heads up on FF being in clearance. I was able to get a pair of the county boots… but the field and dress boots were gone for 9’s (unless you wear short).

The Tredstep Donatello boots are great for a regular sized foot with a small ankle and large calf, but short rider. I’m 5’2" and I was trying to painfully squeeze my foot into a 6.5 Ariat fieldboot just to get the wide calf.

Well no more. I got a pair of these boots (full review is under my screen name at SmartPak) and they are awesome!

By the way, BIG thumbs up to SmartPak for the free shipping coming and going. That is a super customer service business decision. If I can’t get local from now on, I’m a SmartPak customer for apparel. I HAVE to try things on for fit and comfort.

Yes. Tried these on and LOVED them. They were the first pair of FS that I could wear in a 36. I always needed to go up a size due to the FS portion.

I ended up ordering these as I love plaid and different colors:

And I got them in the fawn plaid.

Here is a pic of me riding a friends horse in them

In regards to the FITS Beka breech, I tried them on the same time I tried on the Ovations. They fit, a little more snug, but very similar to the Ovations though I def had more room in the Ovations.

I just ordered a pair of the SP full seats. Cant wait for them to be in stock and sent to me! I ordered a 38 as I wasnt sure how these ran. I can wear a 36 FS in some brands but others that run small or have ultra low rise, I have to go up a size. But with free return shipping, Im game!

Does anyone have a pair of the TS(cotton) breech by Tailored Spotsman? How stretchy are they?

Also, how do the Ariat breeches run size-wise?

Thanks!

The SmartPak breeches I tried last year are the ones they are coming out with this month. They have that stretchy fabric at the bottom of the legs

The knee is slowly getting better. Yesterday was the last day I took the wheelchair to the office, and will now use the walker only except to the barn for visits (no way I can walk on hard pack yet), and am learning to use a cane at home.

My dad died last month, so things have been Not Jolly.

Paint Pony - the TS breech is not very stretchy - and the waist is not stretchy at all.
The Trophy Hunters are more stretchy.

Ariats run a bit on the generous side sizewise, but not too much.

Coreene, I’m sorry for your loss :frowning: Hope your healing continues quickly!

I find it bologna that the bigger you are, the more expensive clothes are - and not just riding apparel!

I own two pair of Tuffriders for schooling and On Course Shapely breeches for my mommy hips that are comfy.
