Womanly-sized riders, unite!

You might try this company:

http://www.equitector-usa.com/?fr=GBR

Their tall boots aren’t quite as showworthy as your typical mainstream choices (a bit clunky looking and made from dragoon rather than calfskin) but are very comfortable and durable and in my opinion better than the Fuller Fillies.[/QUOTE]

Thank you, Vesper! I will certainly look into them.

The wine color I want from Dehner’s is also a Dragoon leather. But currently I’m not showing, nor do I have plans to yet, and my barn resides next to a swamp; we’ve got looooots of water and the Dragoon leather would probably be fine in the environment.

Thanks again for the rec!

I see they are now offering higher Spanish tops as an option (see Accessories tab) which would probably make them look more showworthy. I show in my regular ones all the time, however.

I am a big fan of Spanish tops (or extra Spanish, or Italian tops, or whatever) to make my leg appear longer, so thanks for pointing that out (as I’d not even taken a look at the Accessories tab). I don’t like that it has a sewn tab, but that’s very minor and I could absolutely live with it.

I like that Equitector measures at calf, lower leg, and ankle. I have wonky legs, LOL, and it’s nice to know that level of custom fit is available at a relatively reasonable price.

I have one of those wierd legs that bulge out in an unusual spot and are hard to fit, and these fit me fine–they have a wide elastic along the zipper which helps a lot. My latest pair were easily taken in at the top when I lost weight.

My previous pair lasted for five years and I will make them inot my winter boots this year by adding one of those Futi things.

OK, Got my Irideon Topline Breeches in an XL, in black. The legs are very fitted. I measured my calf at 16" yesterday, and I felt it was a bit of a feat getting into the things. So go up a size in their stuff if you have heavy legs. The waist though is just fine for me, and I usually size clothing at 2X. I like the powernet at the top to come up over the muffin top, but I would have like it to be a bit wider. As it is I’m not sure if I will be tugging at it from time to time. The waist sits at my true waist and the power net comes up above or can be folded down. The photos on the tag show the waist sitting low and the power net coming to the belly button. I don’t know what that says about her waist or mine  Now that I see what it is, I realize I could probably sew a band like that on any breeches I bought from them.

The breeches are very comfortable. The only point of irritation is the bands of elastic around the ankles. Maybe that is a breeches thing? I don’t like the way it feels, but maybe I’ll get use to it. I rolled them up once and that’s a little better. These were advertised for 3 seasons, but they are lined with polar fleece. I’m a little concerned they will be hot? Maybe the idea is that the fleece will wick away moisture from the skin? I’m not up on all the sports fabrics. They are flattering and don’t leave me feeling exposed - since they are pretty thick. They are fine with an over sized tee, and I think they would look really nice for someone of my shape (thick trunk, skinny legs) with a structured shirt or jacket. Now I need some half chaps!

Sadie’s, I believe the 3 seasons would be fall, winter, and spring. No way would I want to ride in fleece in the summertime!

The Equitector boots remind me of the Mountain Horse Classic dress boot; those had the same type of elastic in the back of the calf (and oh, how sad I am that I missed out on those because they fit my calves!).

Still undecided if I will get the Equitector boots or go through kittybee on eBay for customized Petries. Or just go all out and get custom Dehner boots.

If anyone in New England wants to get in on getting measured for Dehner boots, John Dehner will come out and have a “measuring party.” If there’s enough people, it will be at no cost to the group to get him here, and we could get up to a 15% discount on the boots.

Yeah, it was spring and fall I was trying to figure out. I guess if you live somewhere where spring and fall are cool. I live in Indiana now, I figure it is a roll of the dice in spring and fall - some days are quite warm. Still got them on - my tummy got to feeling a little sick. The effect is very much like wearing a girdle. They feel comfortable rolled down too, though I’m sure the effect is not as nice. I would wear these to the store. The fleece feels nice.

We have some roll-of-the-dice weather during those seasons here in New England, too!

I think i may have to try these Toplines, too … I love the color combos. I hope you don’t get too nauseous from them, though!

I guess that’s why they made them so you can roll them down. At least they are comfortable rolled down.

Question on the FF Field Boot for ladies who have purchased them

Do they drop significantly during break in? I am not usually a Tall, but the last pair of field boots I had dropped a TON and and were about 1" too short for the regular height.

I am 5’8", tad under 18" calf and like the FF boot option bc A) It will fit. B) It will work with me some when I lose weight. C) IT WILL FIT!

Just sent back the Devon Aire Camden boots back to Dover (thank you Dover!) because they literally fell apart after 4 months of moderate use, and I’m just trying to find an attractive field boot that won’t fall apart on me when I go to local shows this fall.

I have the FF dress boots and they have not dropped terribly…maybe an inch or so. In my case, they were a touch TOO tall and settled so that the top is just at the bottom of my kneecap…perfect!

Another note on the Irideon breeches - the do stretch with use and become very comfy. Did ride in them the other day and didn’t find them miserable even though it was in the 80s. Haven’t washed them yet. I also bought Dublin suede half chaps in a large following the State Line tack size chart. They are pretty snug, but I understand they tend to stretch some too. If I went to an XL they would be too tall anyway. After I got them, I discovered Dover has a different size chart for the same chaps.

Did anyone else notice that Tack of the Day is offering
Kerrits clothing in sizes up to 2X today. Of course, it
is equestrian 2X which seems to be a lot smaller than
ordinary clothing sizes, but still nice to see some type
of acknowledgement that not all riders are skinny.

Kerrits are fair in their sizing though, simply because I can get 2x on, without cutting of circulation, LOVE Kerrits.

I have been pretty happy with Kerrits sizing in the X-class. Especially in the shirts - I’m a 38DD and the 1X is good, the 2X is quite airy.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any other options for half chaps for up to an 18" calf, grain leather, not suede. I don’t really like the looks of the Fuller Fillies in the catalog photos, they look really bulky around the ankles. Are they any better in real life. Any other options?

Had a fun time tack shopping yesterday. My friend and I were both looking for half chaps and were both off the size charts (she has a 12" calf). Only could find suede that fit me but I really would like grain leather if I’m going to replace my current suede half chaps.

I posted some stuff on Bits and Barter that might interest some of you.

iechris,

Have you checked out Just Chaps? They make theirs fairly generous and I love mine.
