Darla – Please post the information on the lady who makes the show shirts. I would love to get a real show shirt.
Has anyone found the white, stretchy dressage type show shirts in bigger sizes? The Romfh (or similar) ones? I’d love to find something like that–I can just about squeeze into the XL, generally, but I want one that actually fits, that I can wear without a jacket in the summer!
The Romfh is pretty tight on me, but I can wear the Kerritts.
I hit the jackpot!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D
My local tack shop carries RJ Classics hunt coats in larger sizes and in “trendy” colors!!! I got a beaaaaaaaauuuuutiful coat in brown with fine blue and pink running through it. I’ve always drooled over the brown coats and now I finally have one! The sizes went all the way to 24 and I’m soooo happy to know I didn’t have to go that high. (I finally lost weight!!)
Now I just have to find some non-tight looking breeches and I’m all set.
On a bad note, the owner of the store told me that Essex stopped making the “relaxed” cut riding shirts. Those were the only kind that fit me. I was able to dig through and find a few left at the tack shop but sadly will never find them again.

Walmart has the shirts in the men’s department! I think they are by Starter, or another athletic maker… I found long sleeve ones, and short sleeve ones for under 20.00. They have a mock turtle neck, so they look nice. I bought red and blue for schooling. they have black too! Walmart near you may not have them out yet, but ours has them!
Thanks–I’ll check out Walmart and if it doesn’t work out try the Kerrits one.
ThreeHorseNight–
Please, please please please let us know how you like the Kerrits when you get them. I’ve tried on a pair of their size XL at my local tack shop and could get them on but they were too small to actually wear. If the plus sizes really are plus, I’ll want to get some too.
Will do! Do you mind if I ask what size you are on the bottom (don’t have to tell if you don’t want to!) That will help me figure out what size to order.

DevonAire makes stretch dressage shirts in larger sizes. (I don’t remember if they make the more colorful H/J styles in the larger sizes.) I’ve got a couple of short sleeve shirts. They’re good quality cotton shirts. I’ve also got a Romfph shirt - it’s very nice, but does run a little tight (size 44 - I usually wear a 1X on top). There’s a tag inside the Romfph saying:
Also, I’ve mentioned these boots before for those who have trouble finding boots with wide calves. I found Rectligne boots mentioned online and my local tack shop was able to get them semi-custom for me. Stock foot size (European sizes), but custom calves. Rectiligne is a French company (these boots were made in Romania!) so they took a while to get here, but decent quality for around $300. If anyone wants more info, let me know.

Not at all. I wear about a size 20W or 22W in jeans and trousers (the size depends on the cut and style). I just looked in my closet and I also have one pair of slacks that are 2X. I can wear Devonaire, Body Chemistre, and Polartec schooling tights in XL, but the XL Kerrits are too small to wear (though I can get them on–just can’t breathe in them! )
I should add that I wear Petites in the above trousers/jeans, so 20WP, etc.
Hope this helps!
Thanks. I must be abnormal, because in “normal” clothes I wear a 1X on the bottom, but the XL polartec tights, etc, are no where near fitting. I didn’t think I’d be able to squeeze into the XL Kerrits. I’ll give the larger ones a try and let you know!
Thanks, ThreeHorseNight!
Thanks to all of you for the valuable information!
I got my Arete Half Chaps yesterday. I never thought I would find Plus Sizes.
I found some white, stretchy mock turtlenecks at Walmart yesterday–but either you’re much thinner than me, or they were the wrong ones! Even the Men’s XXL was so tight and thin I could read the label on my sports bra through it.
shakes head knowingly Compression tops. Wrong ones.
Has anyone worn the Victory boots? They come with wide calf sizes and wide foot sizes.

i have the same question myself. i have been looking into getting them, but i am afraid once they drop they will be too short.
Do you mean the “Victory” boots at Horse, Rider Etc. ?
If so, those are Hispars. You can get them cheaper on Ebay. I bought them through Horse, Rider Etc. before I knew about the Ebay seller eHimalayas…

Yeah, the one I have says Starter Stretch, Dri-Star, Star-Fit 80% Polyester, 20% Spandex. I have an XL and they do run small, but they aren’t the skin tight ones. Walmart doesn’t have them on the website, nor can I even find one on Ebay to link. If I figure out exactly which one this is, I’ll edit the post.
