I don’t want this thread to slip into COTH oblivion, we have so much good info! I am bumping it.
I have not seen any more of the white “schooling” shirts at Walmart. I hope maybe they will put out some more.

TOD has L & XL Kerrits breeches for $40 today…
white show shirts
I bought two of the Arista “Cool Plus” white show shirts in XL, one with long sleeves with buttons, one sleeveless with a zipper. They are waffle-weave and stretchy (I’m a 38 DD). A non-riding friend looked in my closet and remarked on how nice a shirt it was–she thought it was for regular (non-riding) wear. Made in Canada and available from Greenhawk.
In November I bought a Thornhill Vienna dressage saddle, and a few weeks ago I bought the Thornhill Berlin, which is said to be AP but looks like all my other hunter saddles. If you have a long leg from hip to thigh and a big ass at the same time (Coreene raises her hand here), these saddles are divine as they come up to 20".
I got both from eBay sellers; the dressage one off eBay and directly through her own website (less than $800), and the other one via Buy It Now when it was marked down 20% and had free shipping - that was less than $700!
Of course, the Berlin required a wonderfully expensive trip to Broken Horn for new irons, leathers and girth. Of course. And I don’t even ride hunters; it’s my trail saddle!
I agree, Everyequine. This is the best COTH thread there is!
I just bought some new paddock boots on very good sale at my local State Line but I was disappointed that they were already sold out of tights and breeches in my size. I would have liked one more pair to see me through the summer. My other local tack shop can order them for me but I like having them in stock to try on when I want to.
I’d like to try one of the waffle-weave shirts. If I decide to show I’ll need white breeches (will tights do for schooling shows?) and I’ve found a couple of brands that do my size, but will also need a white shirt.
ThreeHorseNight–anything to report yet on the Kerrits?
Okay, here’s an update on my latest purchase:
I recently received my Kerritts Ventilator Short Sleeve show shirt. WOOOHOOOO!! (do the happy dance with me!) I’m a 40DD, and finding a show shirt that fits with enough clearance to actually feel like a shirt, and not a second skin is a challenge.
These shirts come in sizes from small to XL… but now they also have 1X & 2X. I went with the 2X, and it’s quite roomy. I could probably have done with a 1X, but I’m pretty happy with what I have. The neck is just snug enough, but it’s roomy everywhere else, particularly in the arm holes (and I mean that in a good way). It definitely breathes and I’m confident that it will be my lifesaver in August.
Two thumbs up!
Where did you get the Kerrits show shirt? I don’t see them anywhere on Google? They’re all schooling shirts. Thanks so much!
Supposedly they are on their way from Dover to me. I bought the Kerrits cargo tights, and the short-sleeve ventilator shirt (which comes up to 2X, oh happy day for the well-endowed), and I can’t wait for them to arrive. I will report back when they do. Honeydoozey, I’m glad to hear the 2x is roomy on you. I’m hoping to wear the white ventilator whirt with my stock tie at a schooling show. I have wanted a shirt like that for a long time, and had nearly given up hope!
Will check back in when everything arrives.
The ventilator doesn’t look like a traditional shirt, so if you ride in a discipline that’s fond of tradition, it probably won’t cut it. But for dressage or eventing, under a jacket with a stock tie on it, I think it will be OK. Here it is at Dover, up to size 2X:

I DID get my ventilator from Dover - and yes, they are definitely suited to dressage as far as a “show” shirt goes - they have the loop in the back for a stock tie, and zip up the front.
I am going to get one in a color for schooling - the black ones look sharp, so I’ll probably go with that one.
Got it at Dover, and was able to get it right away. They are great schooling shirts, but for dressage, they’re great show shirts too. (especially under a black wool coat!! ) I am going to pick up one or two for schooling too - I was so comfy!
I tried looking on Dover’s web site but I can’t find the Kerrits tights in 1x and 2x, and I already tossed my catalog… Are they hidden somewhere?
Ugh. My first rated show of the season is only a month away, and my white breeches don’t fit in the calves–I’m sure because of the full seat. UGH!!! I’ve been looking for knee patch, and I haven’t found any womanly sized ones in white yet! At least, not for a price I can spend right now.

not sure what size you need but I recently saw a pr of 38 dublins that were white on Ebay! I can’t remember if they were used or new, but the model was Hilda… they run nice, I sold a bunch of my dublins last month, the were the only ones that fit me other than the real Shapelys!
I’ll g look to see if I can find them again for you
Oh, Twinkletoz, I hope you see this before they end, she actually has a bunch of 38 and 40 white breeches!!! here’s the ebay link, someone grab them, there’s only an HOUR left!!http://cgi.ebay.com/Dublin-Full-Seat-Breeches-38R-White-NR_W0QQitemZ130100406174QQihZ003QQcategoryZ3155QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
well, score another miracle for Kerrits!!
I tried on a fabulous jacket today, in sincere doubt as it was just an XL and in my past experience, Kerrits run TINY… BUT… DRUMROLL… IT FIT WITH ROOM TO SPARE!!! Now, for comparison sake, I’m a 16/18/20 on top, depending… can fit into very, very few department store “XL” tops. Can fit into “nice” store tops like LL Bean, mostly, but some are tight.
It’s a nylony, waterproof wind-type jacket, with the NICEST cut at the bottom. They are ordering one for me in purple. It’s $$ but, hell, it FITS therefore I must HAVE!
Another awesome option for shows, especially if there’s a chance jackets will be waived (and no, I NEVER EVER EVER EVER don’t wear a jacket with white breeches :dead: ) at any rate, LL Bean has a cotton short-sleeved mock-neck which is a lovely fabric. NOT see through, has a nice drape to it. Very flattering. I have the long-sleeve version as my show-shirt, but the short sleeve would look really sharp with just a stock pin on a hot day. WAY more coverage than your typical show-shirt.
I’m pretty stoked about the Kerrits jacket. I’ve always liked their styles, but been pretty po’d that their XL doesn’t even fit around my thigh. Have yet to find their breeks in plus though…
pintopiaffe, which model of the Kerrits jacket fits you?
I got my Kerrits ventilator shirts today, and the cargo tights. Wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles, they are cut to real sizes, not riding clothes sizes. I am, er, rather well-endowed on top, the 2X shirt fits my chest and shoulders nicely and is actually large in my waist (this is a problem with many shirts because I’m out of proportion). I got the shirt in white and light blue, and will probably get the black (or whatever other colors they have) too. I had tried on Kerrits many years ago in an XL and they were way too tight, so I"d given up hope that that brand would ever fit!
The cargo tights are cut pretty true to size too (more so than most breeches). I am about a size 18 on bottom (that varies depending on what I’m wearing) and the size 2X tights fit with room to spare. They are kind of an odd nylon/lycra/spandex/polyester material, so I’ll have to see if I like the material when I ride in them. And the full seat is made of polyurethane, which is just bizarre. It is like vinyl. I have a feeling I will be stuck to the saddle. I’d love to try the tights out tomorrow, but they are a lighter material, and it’s supposed to snow tomorrow. :dead:
luvs2ride, here are the Kerrits that come in 1X and 2X:

These also come in plus sizes, although I can’t find them on the Dover site (but I remember seeing them in the catalog):

So Kerrits, Irideon, On Course, and Ariat (which now has size XXL tops and outerwear) are now with the program!
THN - how long are the kerrit shirts? Stoked they come in larger sizes, but I’m tall and hate shirts that hit my waist - I’m high waisted so need them to come a bit longer…
I was thinking that mine is a good length for me – below my waist, but not so long that it hangs down totally over my stomach and butt. So, on me, it hits a few inches below my belly button. I am not especially long on the top half of my body, but my chest takes up a lot of room (that is, if I were less well endowed, the shirt would hang longer). I can measure the length if you want.
I was wondering how long they were too! If you don’t mind measuring that would sure help. Does it have side slits? Tuckable?
Thanks ThreeHorse!!
I just got my ventilator shirt after reading about them on this thread and I am STOKED. I’m definitely ordering one in each color. I couldn’t believe how lightweight it was and how cool I stayed.
Only complaint: mesh was a little see-through-ish at shoulders, betraying my deep dark secret that my faviority bra to ride in is bright teal.

I’m not tall but have a long torso. I was comfortable with the length on this shirt. Covered my stomach without looking long and sloppy.
